The thing about Abbott is that he has difficulty covering up how much he is enjoying the disaster. With Howard it was less obvious that when he enjoyed exploiting a disaster/crisis.

Abbott is a far less skilled politician than Howard, and the Australian people will likely see him for what he is much sooner than it took them to realise what Howard stood for.
