If you look at the third graph. Melbourne and Sydney are red dots. Most of the south east coast is blue, but the tropical north with no industry, no population shows yellow banding.

I wonder what causes the warming there? It can't be AGW.

Actually he thought we shouldn't have one but progressive Malcolm Turnbull got in his ear about an ETS, good old ex investment banker, and due to political circumstances and global propaganda Howard caved.

Howard never proposed a Carbon Tax nor indeed did Rudd.
Gillard Government sprung that on everybody.

Burning long dead plants and animals for a source of energy is the way of the future  Grin

Yes looking back to our Dinosaur age to propel us into the future shows the ape brain really hasn't acquired a greater thinking ability.

Actually the industry is sourcing Australia's energy needs into the 21st century from varied sources - of which traditional coal and gas sourcing remain a major player and rightly so.

The process of extraction has improved by 120% in regards ro energy source lost from point to delivery valve.
The new process of fracking onshore for gas has added reserves well into the next 50 years of domestic consumption need satisfaction.

Also we are now able to dive deeper in the ocean that ever before.
We have increased the dive and drill ability in the last decade by a further half mile!

The industry is also trying a process now where we can crack the surface of the earth underwater and place a pipeline running along this crack which will reduce all seepage.
Given we are diving at such levels now we need to be able to handle potential mishaps.

Then of course there are geo thermal delivery sourcing and other bio sourcing.

The industry - as usual - is light years ahead of Governments.

That carbon tax, as i expected, was a right royal waste of time.

Fall in greenhouse gas emissions biggest in 24 years

June 13, 2014
Peter Hannam

...

Australia posted its biggest annual reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 24 years of records in 2013 as the carbon tax helped drive a large drop in pollution from the electricity sector.

The government’s climate policies have been in the spotlight as Prime Minister Tony Abbott headed to Washington this week, soon after President Barack Obama introduced the most ambitious emissions cuts in US history – forcing power plants to slash 2005-level emissions 30 per cent by 2030.

Mr Abbott, forced to defend the government’s alternative policy to a carbon tax based on paying polluters to curb emissions, said he would avoid climate action that would “clobber the economy”.

But Greens leader Christine Milne said: “The price on pollution is working and it is time Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Environment Minister Greg Hunt stopped lying to Australia and the world"

You're STILL trying to flog THAT old furphy ?

If you were engaging in social media this past weekend, you might have found an October 13, 2012 article suggesting that global warming stopped 16 years ago.

David Rose of the Daily Mail wrote it. The article says the UK Met Office sent out a news release saying its data showed that global warming has stopped and that there is no “discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.”

It now comes to light
that this information is not true.

The UK Met Office did not release a statement suggesting that “global warming stopped 16 years ago.” The UK Met Office, in fact, disavows any association with Mr. Rose and his article and says it was never asked any questions regarding the actual science of climate change and global warming by Mr. Rose

While I believe that Global Warming is an undeniable fact I have no opinion on whether humanity is a causative factor. It would seem a reasonable supposition but not being knowledgeable enough I can't say either way.
What I do believe however is that any attempt, especially by us, to stop or slow GW is utterly futile, we're a minor player and any successes will be limited at best, and counter-productive to our society. We should instead be focusing our resources and efforts on preparing for the inevitable results of that Warming, the rising oceans and the wild weather events etc, anything else is a waste of time.

How do we learn to cope with the loss of productive land resulting in a planet that can not feed a few billion of the planets population ?

In my view a fixed carbon price is by far the best option.

Much superior to a trading scheme with its associated faults and the direct action plan is just a silly joke.

So as Tony once said if you want to put a price on carbon why not a tax, though a fixed price is not really a tax in the way that Abbott meant.

I can't believe that there are stupid people out there that actually believe that they will get some sort of savings or job creation from the repeal of the carbon tax.
You will not save one cent and unemployment will continue to raise.
Before one of you FTARDS try telling my the job figures have improved in the last quarter have a good look at how many million  labour hours ( that s paid hours of work for you dullards that don't understand the term) have been lost in that time.
