Senior Ministers Need Bodyguards

Senior ministers need bodyguards

Date
    June 20, 2014

Four senior ministers in the Abbott government have been assigned secret-service style protection amid an angry backlash over the federal budget, while a fifth minister is also receiving personal protection over specific threats.

The unprecedented ramp-up in security measures has seen Treasurer Joe Hockey, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, Education Minister Christopher Pyne and junior Defence minister Stuart Robert assigned Close Personal Protection officers from the Federal Police in the month since the budget.

Immigration Minister Scott Morrison has also been assigned CPP teams in recent months, with his controversial portfolio said to be the reason to ramp-up protection, not the budget.

Government sources have admitted the extent of the protection measures required is unusual.

CPP teams are assigned full-time to protect Prime Minister Tony Abbott and the Israeli and US Ambassadors, while convention dictates that the deputy prime minister receives personal protection when the Prime Minister of the day is overseas.

However, in just the past month CPP has been assigned to provide the highest level of security to a slew of public events - many at universities:

❏ Ms Bishop was assigned a CPP team before a visit to Sydney University on May 16, three days after the budget.

The Foreign Minister was confronted and jostled by angry students, forcing her CPP team to intervene.

❏ Mr Hockey was accompanied on May 19 by a CPP team when he made an appearance on the ABC's Q&A, six days after the budget.

Mr Hockey also had a protection detail assigned to his residence in Canberra about the time of what has been a tough and unpopular budget.

❏ Mr Pyne's was assigned a CPP team for an appearance at Sydney University's St Johns College on May 22.

This was one of several occasions the Education Minister, who is driving controversial reforms, has needed protection from the elite unit.

❏ Mr Robert was assigned a CPP team for a visit to the Australian National University on May 29.

Federal police provide an assessment on ministers forward programs to assess whether there is a threat or a risk and whether further protection might be required.

comments so far      Sad

Welcome to abbott's Australia, they have brought this situation onto themselves. Plant the seeds of hate and you reap the rewards accordingly. These incompetent "ministers" need to get out of Australia, seek asylum in a friendly country (nigeria, DRcongo, etc)

When you need to be protected from your own people maybe as a "representative of the people " you did something wrong? VERY wrong.
The government have shown themselves to be representatives of only a narrow portion of the population.
Curly Joe Hockey is a poor intellect attempting to be an elitist. Bishop is a self interested clown and Abbott has a messiah complex - but only for a few.

Tony with world leaders
Tony considering war
Tony needs a body guard

All designed to portray a statesman like arua.

This is not true.

Tony rings them and says "I need a lift in the polls"...

Yes - the one thing we will be able to thank Tony and the Toecutters for is their enlightening us as to the true nature of government here - and the very real need for change to suit The People FIRST!

We're quite simply sick and tired of every half-baked fool coming along and dictating to us what we will and won't have - even if it robs us of our homes, our lives, our families, and our ability to prosper - and all the while we see these same fools fattening up out of OUR coffers for no good reason.

If they are running scared it is their own fault - nobody asked them to come in and start trampling all over the peasants again like Labor did, dredging up the likes of Mattie the Belgian as 'finance minister', Fat Joe for 'treasurer' with his endless inane comments and actions, and so forth...

Where the hell do they get these people?

I'm starting to think that people with a net worth over a certain amount should not be permitted to stand for election - for the simple reason that they have no idea what they are talkiing about.

If ever you needed an example - we've got Andrei here to set us right...

As a side note - I was wondering when the assassinations would start..... not my idea of political discussion, but when there are millions of aggrieved people out there - and a history for the past 30 odd years of dreadful 'management' of this country from all sides, something has to break.

No wonder the original Starship Troopers was based on getting rid of the social scientists who stuffed it for us all...

Somebody try what a dumbass manager once asked me when I pointed out serious issues with management and its direction:-  "You reckon you could run this company better?"

YES!

You want some advice Tone?

Stop chopping at the pensioners and unemployed.

Start really creating infrastructure for long term JOBS.

Axe all preferential tax treatments along with the old age tax concession

Cut your own trips and other rubbish down to the minimum, you might even accept a salary drop to compensate along with the workers who lose over penalty rates for their unreasonable hours etc...

Try total honesty and transparency.

Try adding things up properly for a change.

Stop feather-bedding the rich mates and start making those with trusts and so forth pay for it like everyone else.  Look at Andrei here and his confession - his boss allowed him to sub-contract to avoid paying tax while he was working in Australia - and you allow this?  You work here - you pay here!  You can sort your tax issues out in your homeland second.

You've had more than enough input from here and elsewhere by now for it to dawn on you where you are WRONG and out of order, mister... start flying right!

BTW - I WILL be  launching a new party - attack at your whim - you and your kind, Right and Left, have put enough lies against me and millions of others in the past to make a meal of it - just bring it out into the open for real and let's talk then...

Now - about that Full and Enforceable Bill of Rights with TEETH.... and compensation for a few of the social engineering schemes that wrecked this country to those afflicted by them.

You wanna break some eggs to make your omelette?  Make sure you pay for them first!

The lefties claim to be more tolerant when in fact they are intolerant of those who disagree with leftist lunacy.

Leftists and the Ayatollahs have a lot in common when it comes to criticism of Islam, they don't tolerate it.

I think you'll find that intolerance is where it is found.... not much to do with any concept of ideology...
