[quote author=Tony link=1401874568/179#179 date=1403046517]Uni students are also marching. . .
Not the Asian engineering students I bet, they'll be in the library studying.
uni students marching in solidarity with pensioners is akin to the jews marching in solidarity with the Nazis.
cant the uni students see that the pensioners got free uni, free health, cheap housing and now want to lean on the younger generation and use their "grey power" to make sure every time their has to be budget sacrifice , its the younger generation who feel the pain.
The selfish old pensioner is the natural enemy of the uni student.
Any uni student who joins a pensioner rally is a full blown half-wit Why can't we support both?
Think carefully.
What are the pensioners rallying about.
they want their pensions indexed at a higher rate,
they want exemption from any co payment, they want their discounts on power, water and rego to continue.
No...WRONG they don't want their pensions indexed at a higher rate.... LIAR
They want to keep the current assessment regime...
Abbott et al,, want to move to a LOWER incremental factor THAN ALREADY EXISTS.
GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT
Sounds a tad unfair to me. why..??
sOMETHING TO REMEMBER HERE.....
for you and your ilk....
STUDENTS have their lives ahead of them......
PENSIONERS have paid their dues, are too old to be EMPLOYED... , and should not be so disrespected by the likes of you.
Yes dear they do want to keep the current arrangement which sees pensions indexed at a HIGHER rate then CPI.
now as for this fallacious argument that pensioners have paid their dues

.
The taxes paid by pensioners throughout their working lives were used to pay for services given to them during their working lives.
So when we see a deficit of 350 billion, it becomes obvious that not only have they not paid their dues but they are in arrears.
now the next generation get to see
12 % of their salary denied to them as it is put into untouchable super
pay for the pensioners who enjoy tax breaks on the family home and cheap discounted services
pay HECS that the boomers never did.
pay for more expensive fuel because the boomers used most of it
pay off the arrears the pensioners accumulated
and when they retire they will be on their own with their own super and they get to work 5 years longer then the boomers did.
So much for leaving things better for the next generation.
What they have done is be self indulgent leaners and now want an over burdened, stressed out, younger generation to tackle
High energy prices
Record housing debt
Record long commutes to work
HECS accumulating interest
Retiring at 70
I think we can see why uni students should really be turning the megaphones onto the pensioners standing next to them and giving them a big earful
