We can only work with the best data we have available and not having actual time machines means we use indirect measurements to make estimates. This isn't a blind guess, it's based on actual research with verification of the methods used to make estimates.

This is exactly the sort of thing I was talking about before. Grasping at straws trying to find something, anything at all to make the case appear weak despite the solid evidence backing it. Greens win was just as bad with the GMO stuff. What is it with people not wanting to actually accept science when it goes against their personal beliefs.

It's not like I have any vested interest in this being true. I don't actually think the governments will get their act together in time to deal with it cheaply anyway, because they are too concerned with the immediate economic impact. It's just frustrating as hell to see people dismiss large swathes of evidence they find inconvenient.

I stopped reading the anti-GMO rants.

Your argument is like saying that humans died from natural causes for millions of years before guns were invented - therefore guns couldn't possibly be harmful to people. That corpse lying on the floor with a hole in his head and a smoking gun in his hands must have died of natural causes.
