Australians are much less racist than any country we accept migrants from. Most of the hostility towards migrants I see is based on the newcomers deliberately choosing not to assimilate.

If you actually reading the report where this is from, you'd see that it only makes up a small part of it. The overall response from migrants toward Australia was positive. The media have run with this small section because it riles people up - on both sides. It gets the nationalists fuming and gives the "anti-racists" an erection.
