What paper?????

It is improbable to say least, impossible for a person smuggled & the only way it will happen is as has been pointed out an aircraft arrival direct.

Grow a brain

DAKAR, March 24 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Scientists tackling an outbreak of Ebola in Guinea believe they have identified the virus as the Zaire strain, the most lethal of all...

Oh well excuse me for having an opinion.

Ok it can never ever happen then, all good the smacking experts have spoken.

Because viruses never mutate, they never change, they act the same way for ever and ever. Smacking obtuse, that's what i call you.

You still haven't provided a link so I can read the article myself

Your welcome to your opinion

Your thread title & OP specifically mentions smuggling, a process that takes longer than the incubation period of the disease, so yes Ebola in its current form it is impossible.

This is the 1st time you've mentioned mutation.

Who knows but again since we don't know what the vector really is, its a bit hard to tell.

Mutations of Ebola are a concern but not as much as a mutating flu. Filoviruses are relatively primitive as far as viruses go.

Well we'll all just sit around with our fingers crossed.

Re Friday:

Ebola is highly contagious, which is correct.  However, it has a short incubation period (7 days approx), and high mortality rate.  And these are the reasons why it would always have only localized outbreaks.   However, if it is weaponized by genetic modification, then thats another matter.

The infected "country shoppers" would never have made it here.  Because most people die within 2 weeks of getting Ebola.   And during this 2 weeks, they would not have the energy even to just walk.

Some of the better infectious diseases that you may want to use would be: TB, Syphilis, or just plain old influenza.   But of course, a knowledgable person can counter that argument fairly easy as well.   Wink

LOL, find it yourself.

And if someone gets on a boat in the early stages of contracting the virus?

And they pass it one 1/2 way through the voyage?

The dead get thrown over board, the virus is passed on again a few more weeks into the voyage.

I'm sorry you couldn't think for yourself and only sought to be an abusive arse hole.

Them's the breaks i guess.

Incubation between 2 & 21 days, 21 is the maximum not the norm.

We need to stop these people coming uninvited at all costs.

This is hysterical nonsense. Planes are a far more efficient method of transporting diseases. This is a point that you refuse to address.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/23/us-guinea-ebola-idUSBREA2L0MI20140323

Seriously how hard is it to click the top left icon of the globe with a page then copy & paste address bar of article?

But back to the topic
A) No mention of smugglers
B) No mention of Australia
C) No mention of mutations

If you want to start a panic & heap even more hatred on those that choose to arrive by boat you best find a more realistic option.

How about A'Queda making an Ebola bomb but mutating the disease so it's dormant for 6 months, all in a cave a Tarrin gap, disguising it as a boat, selling gifting it to an Indonesian fisherman who has a boat load of dirty camel jockies ready to go which then infects the navy personnel who return from northern patrols and infect their families who intern infect the wider community.

Holy sh!t they timed it so Morrison was on a fluro junket & his now infected the whole parliament, it's the Zombie Apocalypse.
How did they know?
Who is the mole?

IT"S ALL TOO REAL

Never said the article mentioned smugglers. Roll Eyes
Never said the article mentioned Australia. Roll Eyes
Never said the article mentioned mutations. Roll Eyes

Who said i was trying to start a panic? Roll Eyes

You just make up all loads of crap..... Roll Eyes

There are some serious diseases out there, and many that come to OZ via people smugglers come from countries that have these diseases....fact. Smiley

A good reason IMO to ensure uninvited people paying people smugglers to bring them to OZ are stopped....my opinion. Smiley

Pretty smacking simple. Wink
