A dose of Ebola with your country shopper?
Mar 25th, 2014 at 8:45am

Over 80 cases and 59 dead in the latest out break in Guinea.

All the more reason to smash the people smuggling trade and ensure those that are settled in Australia are vetted and invited.

So when are the conservatives going to stop the economic migrants who come by plane and then claim  refugee status ... the ones that Abbott let stay on mainland Australia?

The ones with forged passports and paperwork.

Ebola doesn't differentiate between those that you want to dehumanise and those that you want to ignore so to support your unbalanced view.

Ebola can spread to Australia and most likely path is via people traveling by plane,.

With this you almost attain the name of biscuit from me, others already use that but I like to give the benefit of doubt.

Quote:
Signs and symptoms

EHF is a severe acute viral illness often characterized by the sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache and sore throat. This is followed by vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding. Laboratory findings show low counts of white blood cells and platelets as well as elevated liver enzymes.

People are infectious as long as their blood and secretions contain the virus. Ebola virus was isolated from seminal fluid up to the 61st day after the onset of illness in a laboratory acquired case.

The incubation period (interval from infection to onset of symptoms) varies between 2 to 21 days.

So your saying people are going to fly from West/Central Africa, find & enter a contract with smugglers & then travel by boat to mainland Australia all within 3 weeks??

Sensationalist drivel

Did you listen to Ray this morning & pick up a case of the "Dumb Sheeple"?

Who is Ray?

Awwwww you gunna become a one trick stem head, good for you. I couldn't give a bugger about your benefit of the doubt.

It's in the paper, and has the potential to be a massive threat IMO. Along with other diseases not common in OZ.

People get infected - 2 weeks later they infect someone else, who in turn.....etc etc - it's not always about the individual carrier.

Just another reason to stop uninvited arrivals in OZ.

Ebola is not airborne. Any person arriving by boat here with Ebola is either going to die before they get here or recover and not be able to pass it on.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

Using possibility of passing disease on as an argument against boat people is just smacking stupid given the prevalence of air travel. Talk to epidemiologists they arent worried about boat refugees, they are worried about planes.

What paper?????

It is improbable to say least, impossible for a person smuggled & the only way it will happen is as has been pointed out an aircraft arrival direct.

Ebola can spread to Australia and most likely path is via people traveling by plane,.

Which of the following is a more effective route for spreading infectious diseases?
(1) someone with an infectious disease travels over land from the source of the outbreak to Australia over a month or two
(2) someone with an infectious disease travels by air from the source of the outbreak to Australia over a day or two

The answer is 2.

Disease outbreaks spread by plane are by far the most common way that infectious diseases enter Australia. The length of time it takes someone to fly by plane from many countries to Australia is shorter than the incubation time for most diseases.

Parasites are also spread most effectively by plane. It's why bedbugs are now being seen all over the world in places from where they were eradicated decades ago.

DAKAR, March 24 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Scientists tackling an outbreak of Ebola in Guinea believe they have identified the virus as the Zaire strain, the most lethal of all...

Oh well excuse me for having an opinion.

Ok it can never ever happen then, all good the smacking experts have spoken.

Because viruses never mutate, they never change, they act the same way for ever and ever. Smacking obtuse, that's what i call you.

Mutations of Ebola are a concern but not as much as a mutating flu. Filoviruses are relatively primitive as far as viruses go.

Who's to say they might not bring a vector on the journey?

We need to stop these people coming uninvited at all costs.
