adelcrow - Conroy didn't nothing of the sort. Conroy made it his personal mission to publicly humiliate a sworn senior officer of the Country when he knew full well that the questions he was putting to him, the General could not answer under the provisions of secrecy in regard to Operational matters he was bound by.

That turd Conroy crossed the line, everyone is saying that including many of the Labor heavies. They are distancing themselves from him like he has just caught Leprosy, which he has.

He is now officially a pariah.

There are no operational matters FFS—it is NOT a military operation but a customs/immigration one.

Don’t blithely support official secrecy!

Conroy told the truth...Abbott put the Navy between him and accountability and the Navy Chief decided that being Abbotts lap dog was preferable to be honest with the Australian people.

Abbott is hiding behind the Navy and the Navy are letting him do it..

That emotive outburst is a refection of the faux indignation Abbott has cheer lead.

Conroy (turd or otherwise) crossed no line at all.  At a Senate Estimates Hearing, where people present themselves to answer questions from our elected representatives, not only are Senators given the duty of asking questions, the unelected person appearing is expected to answer....and answer with total honesty.

The unelected uniformed LNP ADF Uncle Tom General refused to answer a question put to him by a Senator.

Guess what happened next?

This was entirely predictable and it was the subject of critical discussion at high ADF level when the bloke accepted the job.  When he took this on, while he got an extra star and a pay rise, and wore the uniform of an Army General (as part of Abbott's fanfare that we were at War,) in fact, he had become a political puppet, and he was not smart enough to understand that elected Senators would have an interest in his political activities, done on behalf of his political masters, not in defence of Australia against a belligerent armed invasion, but something entirely different............either invasion by our military of Indonesia, or of piracy on the High Seas, or, an on sea repudiation of our International UNHCR obligations.

Either way, he, at Abbott's request, is acting illegally, and when he refuses to answer a Senator's question.........he is truly 'covering' what he is up to.

WHat a load of rubbish ... The general can't use 'secret' as his answer for everything at a senate hearing! ... what planet are you from? If Conroy humilitated him it was because of his own stupidity.

From recent media accounts - it's difficult to respect the hierarchy in the Navy. The number of recent r apes and the cover ups surrounding them - makes you think of the Catholic church - the difference being is that the boys are older.

The culture of secrecy in the ADF suits Abbott.

oh dear I am surprised you judge everyone by the few....thats a shame..as a few labor ministers have not a thing to be proud of..

mantra even conroys own are turning on him....

and yet you feel you have to put down the general by attacking the NAVY as a whole..

to support what he  Conroy did..

dont you think everyone even if he was questioning the garbage man should be treated with respect?

to reference a Jack Nicholson movie character to a General.. was deplorable..

The general is currently working as a public servant and is not in any armed forces capacity on this project. He should be answering questions and not covering up when asked reasonable things.
