It didn't fail because it was never implemented. Suggest you look more closely into what Zubrzycki and co were actually proposing, because the bastardised version of multiculturalism that was co-opted by Fraser and his think-tanks basically had the exact opposite effect of what Zubrzycki was intending.

Zbrzycki's model was a true model of equality and diversity designed to break down the white/anglo cultural dominance, and replace it with a genuinely heterogeneous society. Fraser and co's model was about consolidating white/anglo cultural hegemony, by empowering the political and economic ethnic elites - who directly benefited from, and therefore supported the white/anglo cultural hegemony. The rank and file ethnic population was left in the lurch, and confined to providing trivial cultural circus acts for the benefit of the dominant class - thereby achieving the dual objective of keeping them in their rightful subordinate place and maintaining the illusion of a genuinely pluralistic society.

And its worked a treat: For not only has this bastardised version of multiculturalism successfully maintained the anglo cultural hegemony, its also given the frothing-at-the-mouth nationalist commentators, politicians and intellectuals just enough ammunition to successfully create a powerful meme of white victimhood and being overrun by inferior cultures.

Thus we currently have this bizarre political landscape in Australia where the only two sides of the debate are fighting over the same thing - to maintain white cultural hegemony - both oblivious to the fact that they have both succeeded in destroying the Zbrzycki side of the debate advocating a genuine pluralist model.

Anita Cobby

Cobby was walking alone from the train station along Newton Road, Blacktown around 10 pm, when the gang of five men drove up alongside her and stopped their stolen Holden Kingswood.[1] Two men leaped from the car, dragging her kicking and screaming into the car. She was ordered to strip off her clothes but refused, begging her attackers to let her go, saying she was married and that she was menstruating. Her attackers continued to punch Cobby repeatedly, and forced her to perform fellatio on all five men. Her attackers then drove to a service station to purchase fuel using money stolen from Anita's purse. She was then driven to a secluded paddock, while being held down in the car and raped repeatedly and being continually beaten by her five attackers. Then they proceeded to drag her into the paddock along barbed wire fence and where they dumped the brutally beaten Cobby. One of the attackers, John Travers, returned to Cobby where he proceeded to slit her throat, almost decapitating her. She was conscious for 3 minutes later until she bled to death. Cobby was reported missing by her family on 3 February. Her body was found in a farmer's field on 4 February. Cobby's body had extensive bruising on her head, breasts, face, shoulders, groin, thighs and legs.

Following a tip-off from a police informant regarding a stolen vehicle, police started searching for John Travers, Michael Murdoch and Les, Michael, and Gary Murphy after they discovered that some of them had a history of violence and Travers had a reputation for carrying a knife. On 21 February, police found and arrested Travers and Murdoch at Travers' uncle's house and Les Murphy at Travers' house. Murdoch and Murphy were charged with offences relating to stolen cars and released on police bail. Travers, who admitted that he had stolen a car, had also made conflicting statements about the murder. He was detained in police custody.

Janine Balding

The murder of Janine Balding was the killing of a woman in New South Wales, Australia by multiple perpetrators. 20-year-old Janine Balding was raped and murdered by a gang of five youths on 8 September 1988. Balding's murder is often compared to the 1986 murder of Sydney nurse Anita Cobby.

So grave is the nature of this case that I recommend that none of the prisoners in the matter should ever be released.[5]

We all love and admire poor Cods. True, her memory isn't what it used to be, but that's probably a good thing.

i'm fairly pragmatic about multi culturalism.
i breed horses and new blood from overseas is always keenly sought.

if i was breeding humans, i would import some stallions and broodmares from china, south korea, singapore, finland, norway, denmark, germany  and maybe the odd kiwi.

unfortunately it seems a lot of skinny, runty ,tick infested , diseased, brain damaged , wormy little stallions have jumped the fence and got in to the herd.
hard as it is to believe, there are rumours that some treachorous people have even left the gate open to let them in.

must want to see the herd weakened to the point where we have to call in the vet and put the whole lot down or sell em for dog food.

Maybe, but it didn't "go mad" until the day after Rudd got in.
