Well in the context of who has the most to lose, yes.
Research scientists are paid in grants to think about and investigate ideas. If the subject becomes unpopular, or is considered finalised, the grants stop. A company selling a product, on the other hand keeps selling the product, or if it runs out or becomes unpopular, they just start selling something else.

The scientists that work for Govt don't rely on grants, you think they're going to get rid of the BOM? If you think govt scientists give answers that the govt wants I suggest you read what BOM says and it's doesn't agree with what our govt would like to hear.

edit: And if you think scientists that work at UNIs and get grants to do studies have more to lose than all the carbon industries, csg, coal miners, oil companies, well...

AGW denialist cultists, rely of these spurious and insanely weak arguments, to spread their religion and lies.

To actually claim that AGW is not happening and or there is nothing to worry about, just because it snowed somewhere in the world not only exemplifies the stupidity and deceit inherent in this fundamentalist religious movement, but also the depths that this public discussion has sunk to.

Lets just say that during the last major Ice age on this planet, the earth's average surface temperature was about 5 degC lower than it was pre-industrial period (ie roughly about the year 1900). During that ice age, where temperatures were on average 5degC lower, almost all of the USA was covered by an ice sheet.

What do you think will happen to the earths climate and other systems, should humanity warm the earth by a further 5 degC?
