OK, if thats the case how can we rely on ANYTHING derived from observational records?

Medicine relies on records, no medical records date back 200,000 years so why do we take notice of those observational findings?

the cycle of medical records is one human life-span ie 70 years.  a cycle of climate change I millemia.

Such an unbelievably short period of time, that I can't believe anyone is even mentioning it.

Seriously people, get some perspective.

Yes in geological terms 104 years is but a blink of an eye.

Now that's an understatement.

Any chance you might address my question Greg?

How long before we can use the collected data?

The problem is, we just don't have enough accurate data.

Those who pray at the church of AGW believe that humans are contributing to global warming.

Humans have been around for about 200,000 years.

Therefore, at the very least, we would need to see accurate records that go back 400,000 years: 200,000 years before humans were here and 200,000 years of them inhabiting the Earth.

or at least a few hundred years prior to the industrial revolution.  and QUALITY records not proxies.

At the very least.

Modern weather stations and thermometers are going to be just a tad more accurate than tree rings and ice cores.

Hard to imagine that there are people who believe otherwise.

Who said the earth was meant to feed eight billion people...?

Our government has been working on population reduction for ages now in an indirect way...reduce their incomes, lower their real health standards, create lifestyles that lead to earlier death...  you know.

Ok,

Like I was saying.. over the past 6 months in particular our year has probably been a bit cooler than usual...

Then to be told that it’s Australia’s hottest year ever?

Say what?

So I have double checked Monthly Average temperatures through the last 6 months for MY area... 3280

December -
-1.3
Novermber -
-2.1

October -
-0.7
September -
+1.7
August -
+0.6
July -
+0.6

Didn't the IPCC put their confidence at the 95 to 100% level?

What are your qualifications, such that you can judge that they don't have the data for that level of confidence?

Or are you saying that nothing less than 100% will suffice? Wouldn't that be extremely - dare I say it - Conservative?

Considering the very, very small differences in temperature that are being reported, yes.
Substantiation? Link to any scientific projection with a 100% confidence level?

dendrochronology (tree ring proxies) is a controversial area of science with a lot ot data showing that there is ZERO correlation between tree rings and temperature and none that supports it with a great degree of accuracy.

but in the great Hocky Stick Swindle which so many fell for this is the basis for the reconstruction.  That particular elaborate scam includes majority data from trees even supporters agree has no correlation and even altered data to fit.

gullibility... thy name is climate hysterics.

You know a year has 12 months right?

Also its the whole continent not just a particular area.

Your area might be lucky and as you have provide be a bit below, another 5 areas relative in size could be the reverse & be a degree or 2 warmer.

Its primary school maths
example
john eats 5 apples a day, mary 1, ian 6 & lisa 3
The average apple intake  is
15 divide by 4 = 3.75 apples p/day

next year
Ian remains at 6, mary to 4 john drops to 3 & lisa remains solid at 3
Average intake = 4

Its not hard , your areas John Wink

some years ago the UK was having its coldest sinter in 40 years with ice 100m out to sea and covering the entire country.  the BoM there reported it as the hottest year ever.  and the next year and the one after that.  after a few years of that garbage you loose all trust in climatologists.  They lie.

Well - I say again - my tomatoes that are normally ripening in December are still green....

I tend to trust plants, birds and animals before I trust paid scientists.. and the average here has been lower... though winter was warmer due to more cloud cover.  Same reason as summer is cooler - drought broken, more cloud cover and more rainy days.....

Simple... altogether a relatively mild year 2013.. we had two frosts - a far cry from the -8 frosts of 2003.... in the middle of the drought....

Cloud cover.. cloud cover...... mind you it's more humid than normal....

I'd agree with that.

I always though tree ring = age

Ice cores however are a different story, you can see the air pockets in them, age then becomes the issue.

the same data shows adelaide as having 'well above average temperatures'.  having lived here all that year, that is total bunkum.  but I am so over the climate reports now.  I don't believe anything any more.  the degree of corruption and blatant lying all mixed with a stupidly high level of hysteria has made more realise that the oft-claimed maxim 'everyone is an idiot' is rather generous.  We now have tacit acknowledgement that the 17year pause in warming is real but the 'warming has gone to the deep ocean'.  it is an blatant breach of the laws of thermodynamics but nevertheless, no ideology should ever be subservient to science.

I would agree with the following: that accuracy is a pertinent discussion in the eyes of the voting public as all good science is associated with error value!

As, for the science itself: this is where the assignment of error value has ITS VERY REASON FOR EXISTENCE IN THE FIRST!

Circle jerk syndrome exists exactly around this point: is black actually white asked the psychologically damaging victim prowler???

Go alleged free market inclined conmen and their trophy princesses, yay: applied science never did anything for them  Roll Eyes
