Why do you have an obsession with collecting weather data?

What do you plan to do with it?

Stop running

You asserted that the data collected cannot be relied upon because its too short a period

How long before these records become valid source of information in your opinion?

Its not a hard question, 200 years, 500, 1000?

Such an unbelievably short period of time, that I can't believe anyone is even mentioning it.

Seriously people, get some perspective.

Yes in geological terms 104 years is but a blink of an eye.

Now that's an understatement.

Any chance you might address my question Greg?

How long before we can use the collected data?

The problem is, we just don't have enough accurate data.

Those who pray at the church of AGW believe that humans are contributing to global warming.

Humans have been around for about 200,000 years.

Therefore, at the very least, we would need to see accurate records that go back 400,000 years: 200,000 years before humans were here and 200,000 years of them inhabiting the Earth.

OK, if thats the case how can we rely on ANYTHING derived from observational records?

Medicine relies on records, no medical records date back 200,000 years so why do we take notice of those observational findings?

The question is - why was it the warmest year since records began?

2010 was Perth's coldest winter on record.

2013 Will Finish One Of The Ten Coldest Years In US History, With The Largest Drop In Temperature

New record low temperature for Northern Hemisphere set in Russia's Siberia  - 24 Feb 2014

I think that the world goes through natural cycles depending on tilts and how it rotates around the sun...

for instance... this year seems to be the furthest south I've seen the sun set through the summer period in the past 13 years I've been living at this residence...

and usually you'll find, like always.. that when one part of the world is having record HIGH temperatures another part will be having the lowest temps on record...

and when one part of the world is having drought, another will be in flood...

I'd like to know where all of these record high temperatures were because they were certainly weren't in my area and I live in part of Australia...

over the past 6 months (Victoria) I'd have to say its been below average as far as temperatures go... and a bit higher in rain fall compared to recent years...

SOMEONE had to say it

The Bureau of Meteorology are just making these figures up !

Yes in geological terms 104 years is but a blink of an eye.

How long should we maintain records before using the data Greg?

The economy is also irrelevant in geological terms yet we consider it important. We're all going to be dead in 100 years also, yet we place so much importance on our lives.

Geology isn't that important - what matters is that we are making a lot of changes to it to maintain our lifestyle.

Amazing how many “hottest ever. . .” records continue to be broken.

Imagine what it’d be like if we had global warming!

We do see the occasional "coldest ever" record as well but these days they are outnumbered by equivalent "hottest ever" records.

The numbers I'm waiting to see are the global figures for 2013. They will be worth looking at when they become available.

Didn't the IPCC put their confidence at the 95 to 100% level?

What are your qualifications, such that you can judge that they don't have the data for that level of confidence?

Or are you saying that nothing less than 100% will suffice? Wouldn't that be extremely - dare I say it - Conservative?

Lack of accountability clouding the climate change debate

January 3, 2014

John McLean
The world's so-called authority on climate change engages in exaggerated science and has become a political tool.

The reality is that the IPCC is in effect little more than a UN-sponsored lobby group, created specifically to investigate and push the ''man-made warming'' line. With no similar organisations to examine other potential causes of climate change, it's only the IPCC voice that is heard. But the IPCC's voice isn't heard in context and with all the necessary caveats; it's distorted via the UNFCCC and others who imply that the IPCC is the sole scientific authority on climate matters.

Of course those with vested interest support it, which include governments, politicians, government bodies, ''green'' groups and many scientists. Ultimately it's the unquestioning media, or perhaps a media unwilling to admit that the UN and its agencies might be dishonest or wrong, that misleads the public into believing the IPCC is something it's not.

John McLean is the author of three peer-reviewed papers on climate and an expert reviewer for the latest IPCC report. He is also a climate data analyst and a member of the International Climate Science Coalition.

For the last 400,000 years?

Link?

Considering the very, very small differences in temperature that are being reported, yes.

Yes that's right George.  Any honest person would say "wait a minute, the experts are saying that climate is warming and were getting all these "hottest ever records" Maybe I should look at this again". Instead the deniers scream louder about how foolish the expert scientists are. Clearly these people couldn't care less about the facts.  Its about them and they will tell any lie so they don't have to put themselves out to try and remedy the situation. One thing you can be sure of.  The human species has survived through the ages (so far) despite these parasites whose only concern is that everything might go to sh!t before they get to live out their days.
