Any changes under this lot will only be for the worse.
They not only don't care, but they actively hate the unemployed.
but guess what ? They still want to keep middle class welfare in the form of negative gearing tax concessions so that the homeless stay homeless and funds get siphoned off from manufacturing and used to speculate on property thus creating more unemployment as factories close down
In order to negative gear you have to make a loss.
SOB
yes they claim interest payments and other expenses against the income from their totally unrelated day jobs. They bid up prices at auctions and are willing to pay more than others simply because they can claim for interest payments where as joe owner occupier isn't allowed this privilege. Kind of sucks doesn't it but the corruption goes on
"They" you refer to, are these houses bought by overseas investors, or by our own Australians?
Because, what is the problem with that, any improvements or profits stay in our country.
There were a lot of seminars showing people (any of us) exactly how to do this, to buy a property, alongside their job (and one had to have a certain amount of income and tax payable, to be able to benefit from this).
People want something more than a dreary 9-5 job, to then retire at 65 (if they make it) and maybe even later than 65, according to the latest news of retirment age being lifted to an even older age.
Do you really think when people reach pensioner age, after working all their lives, barely living (more like working to live) and raising a family, and going on small affordable camping holidays, to then go on the pension, really live in the lap of luxury?
Why wouldn't they take a risk to do some residential investment to get themselves a little out of the rut, if there was a chance to? And to then supply their own income later on, and even sell that residential investment, and live off that, instead of burdening the Government for yet more tax money?
You need to have a wider view of this Lastnail, although you have a right to hold your opinion, but just don't let that opinion hold you.
