misinterpreting posts is common on here largely because of the low IQ and poor education of so many (eg john smith, pansi, greesn_snot etc).  but skippy is one of the worst.

I agree with the first part, re: misinterpreting posts, although I would suggest that it goes much further than posts - and whilst it might relate to IQ (the laughable intelligence measuring scale) and poor education, it simply boils down to blatant lack of comprehension (either deliberate or learned).

Oh, and you and many of your ideological mates also are well qualified, demonstrably, for that list of people.

Just saying   Wink

poor comprehension is perhaps the worst.  you have the john smith type who seems simply unable to comprehend a post unless every point is articulated in excruciating detail, skippy who seems to lack the cranial horsepower and the worst is green-dumbo who deliberately misinterprets every post and if that still doesn't work, simply lies.

The intelligent posters are relatively rare.

It took some finding but here is a link that absolutely highlights the comprehension issue, but, even worse it demonstrates a blatant refusal by many to even read links when posted....

Oh, it is noteworthy that the main offenders in this link are NOT actually on your list too.

http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1380263025/135

In short whilst you name names and, in particular, target one specific "side" of the political arena, the above link demonstrates exactly that it is not a one sided issue (firstly) and secondly, by the list you offer, demonstrates that you are looking to score ideological points rather than make any kind of insightful commentary. Not that there is anything wrong with that (apparently).

Well, firstly, I have been disagreeing with him. I only agreed with the first part of his comment, i.e. comprehension is an issue on this forum because, quite frankly, it is. I just notice that it occurs regardless of ideology and not (seemingly at least) because of it. Ergo, no one is safe, lol....

I don't know what to do about the link, I am tried reposting the link but it didn't work again.

http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1380263025/0 - hmmm, maybe this will (if I got it right this time...)

If not, it was a thread titled "Abbot turns first boat back" - which was completely refuted by the link posted in the OP by the same poster who made up the title... Comprehension issue?

I also recognise that there is a marked difference between people not agreeing and not comprehending.

That might be a bit subtle for some though.

No problem as long as health & education are not touched.

If he really wants to impress me he can start with all the crap Howard brought in for those I sighted in the above post.

Super earning over 200K being tax free
5 billion to private health companies
4 billion to miners

Are all worth losing if a surplus is what you base success on.

You know that won't happen.  They'll cry poor and claim they'll need to cut jobs.  And then spend millions on ad campaigns and we will be right back where we started.  Apparently markets should be left to their own devices as long as government subsidies them.

This is why governments should NEVER subsidise private industry,  all that happens is artificial influx and their subsidies get sucked up into extra profit that companies become accustomed to.  But hey, Howard was terrific.

nice principle as long as EVERYONE does it.  but they don't.  and sometimes by not subsidising all you do is end up with no industry at all.  not exactly a success.

So then you're basically admitting that free markets are a con, because industry can't survive without government injection? A bit of welfare for the company?

Whatever happened to economics 101 where businesses provide a service or product, offer a value proposition, and then generate revenue from that which leads to a profit for them? If they don't have the right value proposition then perhaps their management shouldn't be paid the millions that it is and instead should go back to the drawing board.  Quite simply, enough of this nonsense that somehow they can only survive through government injection. All government injection does is raise their funds in the first year, and then what? Then it's there for life.

If they want bail outs, that's a different story.  Put a proper cost-benefit proposal to the government on a bail out strategy, and if it is sound, guarantees money back to the tax payer, and if it provides benefit to the tax payer, then do it. Otherwise, fold.

It seems that this whole idea of cohesive society, role of government and the tax dollar has gone complete hay wire.   Just like businesses, people shouldn't be expecting to have their tax dollar give them some sort of subsidy back for some private service. The value proposition with the tax dollar has always been for government to provide necessary social and economic infrastructure, public services, welfare for those falling into the safety net or on the pension, and defence.  That is it. Enough of this wanting more and more and more, and wanting to pay less and less and less. What joke.  And then some dare to even make the argument of "individualism"...

I hear the Pilbara port is going to close for a few days due to the cyclone. Will Gina et al need some funding because they'll lose a few million as a result? poor fellas.

Time for a very large proportion of our populace to get some tough love & re-prioritize their spending.

Watching the news report on the boxing day sales, my attention was caught by a couple of 20-somethings gleefully telling the reporter that they were there to max their cards out and would probably spend around $3000 on clothes & makeup.

My first thought was - geez girls, have a thought about next year.
My next thought was - go for it darlings, whatever you spend it on I'll probably make a few bucks from it on the stockmarket.

If most people can piss away $3000 on frivolous stuff like this, it's difficult to defend the proposition that Australians cannot afford an increase to taxes to get the budget back in balance.

the assumption that there is even a connection is ridiculous. just as is the silly assumption that they are typical.  and even worse is the typical left-wing viewpoint that if people have money to waste then it should be taken off them so that he govt can waste it instead.

The only ridiculous thing is that you think this is a coherent argument. Your argument is about as coherent as an explosion in a spaghetti factory. And as usual, you offer no proof, just vague mumblings.

misinterpreting posts is common on here largely because of the low IQ and poor education of so many (eg john smith, pansi, greesn_snot etc).  but skippy is one of the worst.

Not that there is anything wrong with that (apparently).

your link doesn't work

little experiment for you, Phemanderac., if you want to try ... disagree with longie on something and $100 says sooner or later he will run away calling you stupid or questioning your IQ.

Lying is common too, and although boofy has been doing it for years even he will battle to catch up with longlyingfool.
