Thanks Abbott for keeping asylum seekers in Indonesia and Malaysia, non refugee signatories.  Thanks for ensuring asylum seekers are stuck hiding, continuing to be persecuted and having their lives threatened by being sent back because there is no refugee framework,

How many lives will be lost?  Oh none because it won't be reported.  Phew!

Thanks tony Smiley.

And thank you for continuing to send them to PNG.  Great policy you have decided to keep.

So much for those Aussie values,  but you know, difficult things happen.

so much for leftie =values... let them come in through the bac k door therefor preventing all those who had waited to be chosen to come here via the front door..

YES ALL 50.000 PLUS of them...all here  chosen by the people smuggling industry the left helped create..whilst those in camps sit and wait and wait and wait..

. of course we are not counting the 1000 plus who died at sea... or those that were burnt in the boat that blew up.. almost killing our own personnel as they went about their duty... and who are by now retired and forgotten about..... yes lets put that all down to good old aussie values.. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

sure beats stopping the boats by a country mile.. Angry..

What back door???  When people flee, they flee whatever safe avenue they have.  If that involves via Indonesia to Australia that doesn't make them any less deserving.

What our government should be doing is
1) working in the trouble areas to help fix
And
2) working in transit countries to get their phucken laws appropriate to 21st century standard.

Not putting blinders on the population and pretending the solution is to go down the same policies as indonesia would have.

The Australian government says no asylum seekers arrived in Australia by boat in the past week, as it declares its tough border protection policy is working.

Immigration Minister Scott Morrison on Friday said 355 asylum seekers on seven boats had been intercepted by Australian authorities since the start of December.

None arrived in the week leading up to Friday, despite unusually favourable weather during the December monsoon season.

"This represents a 70 per cent decline on last December, when there were 1149 (arrivals) on 20 boats - so far this is the lowest number of arrivals in December for five years," Mr Morrison said in a statement.

Well done to Tony and his team... well done..  Smiley

I can't wait to see what the prick says when the boats start rolling up again.

So you want 10s of thousands of freeloaders here on the dole for the rest of their lives then?

So you are saying that you want to go back to Labor/greens policy whereby we roll out the red carpet to very scum bag on earth?

Or is it that you just can't stand the fact that the Liberals are succeeding where Labor failed dismally because you are a rusted on Labor supporter who treats political parties like a football team????

Like I've said before, I used to vote Labor every election because my father did, but, then I started to think for myself, I saw a party who when in power ran Australia good and a party than ran Australia into debt every time that they were in government and it has never changed in my lifetime ....

It'll never change while Labor are stacked with halfwit union thugs who only know how to spend other peoples money and run businesses into the ground...

Every Australian should be rejoicing that our boarders are back under control.. everyone...

And I think the silly labrats and lefttards  secretly are but just can't bring themselves to say so.... to give credit where credit is due ...

And that's why you'll never have any credibility in anything you say ...

So what's happening to the boats which are intercepted? Indonesia isn't taking them back - so where are they going? If they're not arriving by boat - have the numbers arriving by plane increased?

There aren't any boats... the Liberals have put the people smuggling business out of business...

If you were to turn up to your neighbours freeloading off them every day then they too would soon shut the door and you would stop going there knowing that you have become unwelcome and unwanted...

Its not rocket surgery...

As you can see by the comment, the "progressives" don't like this. They need the boats to keep coming and deaths at sea to keep occurring just so they can stick it in Abbott's face.

Fact Check consulted two researchers from the University of Queensland who specialise in data analysis, Dr Angela Higginson and Jason Ferris. They modelled the data and concluded that: "There has been a statistically significant reduction in the number of arrivals since the Coalition took Government... But it sits as part of a trend in reductions of arrivals that began with the last government. So in short, Mr Morrison is right, but he's not taking context into account."

The researchers say the comparison period of before and after Operation Sovereign Borders used by Mr Morrison misses the point, "because this trend began back in July and there is no sign that the election of the Abbott Coalition Government has had any impact on arrivals whatsoever".

They say over the past five years, there have been several changes in the trend of asylum seeker arrivals, the most recent change being in July 2013, "
but that there is no evidence of any further change in trend since the election
".

In REALITY, the RBA cash rate target CONTINUED on a trend that began LONG BEFORE any change of government

The verdict

There has been an 80 per cent reduction in asylum seekers arriving in Australia by boat in the comparison period outlined by Mr Morrison. However, the data shows
the number of arrivals began to slow significantly under Labor, soon after Mr Rudd's regional resettlement arrangement was announced.

we had a civil war did we?

Well done for serving. Now let me ask you again. What are you going to do if you're sitting there, eating your Doritos, enjoying life as you rightfully should, and then out of no where in your back yard all you see if shelling everywhere. Are you going to come out, Rambo style? Or what is your instinct going to tell you?  Now add the beauty of your wife, your kids, your parents, etc, all into that situation. What you going to do? Tell them to get armed and go fight?

Refugees exist. And refugees have done nothing wrong. You're right, it happens in every civil war. But it's not because a person is a coward. In fact, leaving everything behind and escaping with your family is just as courageous.   So shut the bugger up.  Smiley

Less judging people who ARE in that situation. It's truly pathetic.

"This represents a 70 per cent decline on last December, when there were 1149 (arrivals) on 20 boats - so far this is the lowest number of arrivals in December for five years," Mr Morrison said in a statement.

how come Labor couldn't do this... ?

".

Howard and Costello had spun the same old shite a decade BEFORE - in claiming the election of their government had brought interest rates to "record lows"

Love the bit I highlighted about the "researchers". Love how they say that the reduction in boat arrivals began with the previous government. Is that the same government that practically invited in 50,000 dole bludgers on more than 700 boats while over 1,000 people drowned and the budget for dealing with this issue blew out by billions of dollars from what was originally a <$100m per year policy? It's this simple: Labor's incompetent attempts at stopping the boats after inviting them was simply pathetic and it's only now that there has been a change of government and a toughening of our governments' stance on this issue that the boats are stopping. Lets be clear - Labor was all over the place on this issue: for onshore processing and then for offshore processing, for East Timor taking people and announcing it without informing the East Timorese, for sending people to Malaysia's worst prisons prior to being given an almighty slap-down by the full bench of the High Court (but not before committing us to taking thousands of people from Malaysia). Under Gillard, the ALP had more positions on this issue than one of Craig Thomsons' prostitutes would in a one hour session with him. Time to face up to the facts, leftards. Abbott said he would stop the boats and that is what's happening - not instantly, but certainly light years faster than any plan Labor had come up with! Smiley
