It's a pretty falacious argument for obvious reasons.

Of course...that's pretty standard with any 'urban legend' or conspiracy theory...

The concept is "Only those who agree with my beliefs are truthful"...(and no, I'm not referring to myself, so don't even bother try the misquote thing). Look at wharfy (it_is_the_light). It doesn't matter how often the bizarre claims don't come to pass ( ufo unveilings, papal arrest warrants etc etc) he still believes, because it says so on a website he trusts.
