Well, at least you understand the language.  I have no avatar here because I have no idea how to.  Tried and lost it as soon as the stupid bloody buzz words came along.

What do I need*.  A bloody degree in nuclear physics!

Somehow I managed to insert the avatar I've always had ~ a sheer fluke.

The problem is not getting a new avatar from my hard drive to the input address bar in Ozpolitic, but getting an image here from Photobucket.

Well you need to resize your image before you can use it.  First you need to download it to your computer, then you can either use a simple image manipulation program to resize, or you can use an online resource like this one:

http://pixlr.com/

Then get into your profile and upload it. Let me know which stage you have problems with.

I already resized it using Irfanview.

Attach it to your next post, and we'll see if it meets the specs. It should be no larger that 100kb for a start.

Herbert,

Save the avatar you want to your computer ... say the desktop so you can easily find it, then go into your profile and under options/avatar area "browse" for the file and add it. I think you also have to tick the little box.  Your computer information will NOT show up.

Aussie,

You can do the same.  It is not rocket science.  Wink

Thank you, neferti, but ... the whole purpose of image hosting websites is to protect the user from having his confidential folders and files rifled through by snoopy lurkers.

I certainly wouldn't use an avatar or load an attachment from MY computer if I thought someone could snoop.  They can't.

Anyway.  Go to your Photo thing, find the picture you want and copy the link (www. etc) into the avatar area on this site. That should work. Otherwise just do what I suggested.  Nobody can snoop into your computer, it doesn't even show the file name ... check my avatar information ... just says "neferti.jpg" ...
