labor couldn't repeal it without coalition senate votes.  the greens didn't have balance of power then.

Well I am...far far better than a parliament full of namby pamby, controlling do-gooders telling us how to breath.

Seriously Gizz

Really? you've jumped from reasonable doubts with good questions, to the above garbage?

No one is telling anyone how to breath, all the "Carbon Tax" does is put a price on pollution.

The Restaurant down the road has to pay to have it's grease traps emptied.

The servo down the road has to pay to get its used motor oil/tyres & batteries removed & disposed of correctly.

Christ even I have to pay if I have a clean out & take a trip to the dump.(And I'm not allowed to even bring other stuff home NOW!!!!!!!)

Why should emitters of carbon dioxide be different to the rest of the community?

because it's not pollution?  it is in fact, what makes all our plant life live and with more of it they grow faster an stronger.  you can disagree if you want but don't make the assumption that everyone thinks CO2 is pollution coz most don't.

Your use of the word pollution is at best ambiguous.
People may differ on how they use the word 'pollutant', but in the US the issue goes back to this Supreme Court case:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massachusetts_v._Environmental_Protection_Agency

The Supreme Court found that CO2 qualifies as a pollutant, as defined by the Clean Air Act.

Regardless of whether you want to use the word 'pollutant' or not, increased CO2 levels have adverse effects which qualify them for regulation under the Clean Air Act.

All things in excess can have detrimental effects even too much oxygen can be dangerous to ones health.

all that does is state that anything in certain quantities and certain situations can be a pollutant which adds nothing to the debate whatsoever.

when you tell me if Abbott has a mandate to repeal the carbon tax.  when you can answer my question I will answer yours.

I predict no answer will be forthcoming.

and I was right.  you are too easy to trap.  if you said abbott doesn't have a mandate then clearly Rudd didn't since it was even his major policy.  if you said Abbott DOES have a mandate then you have to support the CT repeal.  so you revert to your usual position.  hypocrisy laced  with stupidity.

I say Rudd had a mandate, because I'm not gutless  like you, Abbott does too, but he can get buggered seeing as though he set the precedent of ignoring them, now run and play on the highway.

I haven't heard a law that forbids you to be against it, just be prepared to back your opinion when asked, just as those that do have too.

Here's a question for you
If the science that is for warming is wrong & peddled by feather-bedders, what makes the science that is against warming any different?

I believe it was a Labor government who allowed their relationships to be viewed the same as hetro in the eyes of the law.
But your still welcome to beat up the effeminate kid/bloke at the pub if it makes you feel tough.
But I'm sure you'll be charged with assault no matter the governments hue.

The MOST disturbing "nutbag" aspect is that the ( ... so called) CLIMATE MINISTER and the PRIME MINISTER think that an emissions trading scheme is a TAX

They seriously believe that a carbon tax and ETS are the SAME THING

A government draws ZERO from an ETS

... and THESE are the people we've entrusted our lives with, for the next three years ?

Yeah, but it IS a TAX

NO
It's NOT
It is a free market TRADING SCHEME
A BUYING and SELLING scheme between HIGH and LOW emitters

As an example ...

Hepburn Wind
will sell ( ... well, WOULD have) its allocation of permits to the highest bidder in the dirtiest coal-generated electricity sector

Not ONE DOLLAR passes through ANY government's hands at ANY profit

( ... you seem to be just as ignorant as Abbott and Hunt on the differences)

Im sure if Abbott and his merry band of thieves offered to swap the current price on greenhouse gases for the ETS Labor had a mandate for in 2007 that Labor would come to the party...one mandate for another..sounds like a fair swap to me  Smiley

I keep forgetting that comprehension is not your strong point, you said it yourself "anything in certain quantities and certain situations CAN BE A POLLUTANT"
So CO2 in large quantities can be classified as a pollutant, which is the whole point of reducing CO2 in the atmosphere so we don't get to the point where we have too much CO2.

Politicians, both Liberal & Labor, have a mandate to proceed with their Policies, IF THEY HAVE THE NUMBERS IN BOTH HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT, TO PASS THE REQUIRED LEGISLATION.

Of course, the final decision on whether any Policy, passed by any government, is/was truly required or not and whether it was beneficial to the Public as a whole or not, will be confirmed & consigned to history!

However, on this particular issue, when looking back on the history of Climate Change, it will be far too late to avoid what seems likely, by the best information available, to be some quite undesirable Global outcomes!

Regrettably, on the balance of what I see in human nature, it seems unlikely that decisions will be made sufficiently across the planet, to avoid those not so nice outcomes, so I suggest we should all collectively hang our heads in shame, as we may well be seeing the start of the end of humanity!

And, for what?

And, for what?

I believe you're correct. As for your question, and for what?  That's easy too, greed, ignorance and the most stupidity  shown by man since the numpties that believed the earth was flat. Never in the history of mankind has the majority of the world population been so intentionally murdered by a greedy minority that care more about their own ass than that of their children. Even if there were only a 20 percent chance of climate catastrophe  it be worth addressing it. Yet we have what the overwhelming majority of scientists say is a 98 percent chance and these murderers still spin their lies. If only we could sacrifice the fools and intentional liars and their families in order to keep the ignorant and educated realists alive.
