its not getting hotter and hotter.  it hasn't gotten warmer for 17 year(s}

You're STILL trying to flog THAT old furphy ?

If you were engaging in social media this past weekend, you might have found an October 13, 2012 article suggesting that global warming stopped 16 years ago.

David Rose of the Daily Mail wrote it. The article says the UK Met Office sent out a news release saying its data showed that global warming has stopped and that there is no “discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.”

It now comes to light
that this information is not true.

The UK Met Office did not release a statement suggesting that “global warming stopped 16 years ago.” The UK Met Office, in fact, disavows any association with Mr. Rose and his article and says it was never asked any questions regarding the actual science of climate change and global warming by Mr. Rose

http://earthsky.org/earth/uk-met-office-responds-global-warming-did-not-stop-16-...

its not a furphy at all.  it is in fact established fact as the IPCC itself admitted as have most excepting the True Believers in the ACC religion.  But if it isn't true then can you explain the almost desperate search for 'the missing warming' that is apparently now deep in the ocean?  Why would they be searching for missing warming it is was still getting warmer up her on the surface.

You can take a look at the graph all you want but nothing will change that fact that for 17 years there has been no statistically significant warming.

quoting a hysterics blog site aint exactly helping you.

Well yes but you'll need a time machine and also have to convince the Labor party to keep Howards workplace reforms or the majority of Australians to vote for Howard, so probably no Sad
perhaps you should try again

Why should emitters of carbon dioxide be different to the rest of the community?

Yes. Very well put.

Yeah, well Dsmithy....It's still a fair comment...the Greens/Labor mob are pretty much into the whole 'do what I say' thing......Don't 'you dare be against' climate change, homosexuality (which I'm not against), eating meat, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, fishing, shooting, free will etc..

The MOST disturbing "nutbag" aspect is that the ( ... so called) CLIMATE MINISTER and the PRIME MINISTER think that an emissions trading scheme is a TAX
They seriously believe that a carbon tax and ETS are the SAME THING

A government draws ZERO from an ETS

... and THESE are the people we've entrusted our lives with, for the next three years ?

because it's not pollution?  it is in fact, what makes all our plant life live and with more of it they grow faster an stronger.  you can disagree if you want but don't make the assumption that everyone thinks CO2 is pollution coz most don't.

Your use of the word pollution is at best ambiguous.
People may differ on how they use the word 'pollutant', but in the US the issue goes back to this Supreme Court case:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massachusetts_v._Environmental_Protection_Agency

The Supreme Court found that CO2 qualifies as a pollutant, as defined by the Clean Air Act.

Regardless of whether you want to use the word 'pollutant' or not, increased CO2 levels have adverse effects which qualify them for regulation under the Clean Air Act.

All things in excess can have detrimental effects even too much oxygen can be dangerous to ones health.

Resulting with food crops with lower nutrient levels and so less return on agricultural inputs. So those that want to pollute the atmosphere with heat trapping carbon, want to play russian roulette with our food security while the human population is expanding.

so while 'govts lose elections rather than oppositions win them' makes a nice pithy statement it is still not the whole truth or frankly, even partly the truth.  Other times, it is just nonsense.   2007 was the perfect example of a govt not losing and election but an effective opposition winning one.

because that assumes CO2 is a pollutant.  and that is far from proven and is in fact far from even likely.

labor couldn't repeal it without coalition senate votes.  the greens didn't have balance of power then.

try and get your history right.
