Maybe it's a death-wish?

What a hell of a way to play Russian Roulette with your life.

Remember this one Herb?

Yes! Who could forget?

Those moments when these two waited for the lion to come down the hillside, not knowing what to expect ... and then when the lion remembers them after such an absence of time, it was one of the most epic moments ever recorded on video.

On a negative note, what also amazed me was that the law allowed a lion cub to be sold to the general public. That is totally wrong. Who knows what abuses could occur in the hands of private individuals.

You would have to be a hard person not to shed a tear or two over that reunion. It's almost too poignant to watch.

English laws are usually quite strict in regard to selling animals. You would probably expect it in the US where leopards, cheetahs and all sorts of wild animals are sold online. It's quite shocking. The rich can enclose a magnificent panther or similar, like an ornament in a glass cage, or establish a private zoo then clear off leaving the poor creatures to starve.

Herbert - have you thought about an icon for your forum? What about a picture of your favourite cat?

It's good to see you on the board again. Yours is a rare voice of sanity and quiet dignity around here, ma'am.

Abbott should have made you Speaker of the House, not Bronwyn Bishop with her fiery temper and that hideous bottle-blonde hair-do of hers that makes her look like one of the Ugly Sisters in Cinderella.

But I digress.

When the Arabs bought Harrods in London with their petrol-dollars, that's when they started selling any sort of animal that you could afford.

Not wishing to upset the 2 million Muslims living and voting in the UK, the British government thought it wise not to rock the boat by outlawing the sale of these exotic animals.

And so this vile practice was allowed to continue, and God knows how many of these 'novelty' animals are now languishing in misery and despair in containment areas on private property.

The cowardice of the British government so far as not wanting to upset the Ethnic Vote is legendary.

As for an icon for me ~ I'm not sure what you mean. Where would this icon be?

Yes he should have. I am much younger and more natural looking with pleasant diction.  No bleached locks, grating voice or pancake makeup for me.  Smiley

It is disgraceful. I always thought the UK had humane laws for animals. We have gone the same way and are just as scared of upsetting the Muslims. Everything is halal now - even vegemite. You wonder whether they even bother to stun the poor cattle now before their throats are slit while an Imam prays over the spillage.

You know those little boxes beside each sub-forum where there are pictures eg. Abbott with the Hitler moustache on the Politicians suck forum and beside Thinking Globally there's a picture of the world.

FD can put them in - but they need to be reduced to 33 x 33 pixels. It was just a suggestion - you can put anything you like there.

Yes. The pancake makeup. I forgot about that. Sedimentary layers of it as she goes through her day re-powdering her nose to stop it from shining. I haven't seen her daughter in ages. She used to be a television reporter. Simply disappeared off the tele. Maybe she suffocated in a cloud of cosmetic powder during a visit to her mothers ... ?

I blame the food producers for this, not the Muslims. Coles and Woolies want their dollars.

I wonder what would happen if these big supermarkets decided to insert 'kosher' into their food items just as they have done with halal?

How would the Muslims like that? Would they resort to ....
waaaaaiiit for it
...... violence?!

Is there much difference between Kosher and Halal? That's not a bad idea though, but the Jewish population here is small compared to the Muslims and there wouldn't be the same reaction.

Yes - the duopoly remain supreme in deciding what we should eat.

The only good thing about the diet of both religions is that they don't eat pork and now I know why.

I haven't touched pork since I saw this video. I thought it might have been a trick - but found plenty of other experiments showing exactly the same thing.

Shocked You've misunderstood Lionel. Sometimes when Herbert goes to reply to my post - he accidentally edits it instead with his own reply. So even though my avatar shows up - they are actually his words and my comments disappear into cyber space.

You can see where my earlier post has been edited by him accidentally.

I'm just being cheeky, Mantra. No offence intended.

Herbert and I have gone through previous incarnations. I would like to consider him a cyber-friend - sometimes we appear to share similar tastes in irony/sarcasm/cats/wit/gardening/intolerance/bigotry/lawnmowers/privet and aversions to wet-lettuce, posturing, illiterate, uneducated, self-opinionated prats who can't differentiate between shoot and shinola.

All of which makes us targets of the ill-informed and previous spooks on other forums.

So, fear not, fair maiden. My commentary was merely intended to raise a salacious riposte from Mr. Herbert - rather than cast doubts upon your character.   Cool

Am I the only one hoping the lion would bite this bloke? Seriously, he's asking for it.

It's obviously a well-practiced party trick for paying tourists, but he must realise his luck will run out one day.

It occurred to me that unbeknownst to the tourists, only an hour before this he might have given these lions a shot bush animal to feed upon ~ making them a little lazy.

I remember in a lion doco an expert saying that if you sweat a certain fear-odour into the air, this will trigger an instinctive attack response from a lion.

If they can't smell this vapour from you, then the lion is assuming you're feeling confidently equipt to deal with any aggression from him.

One of my most persist bedtime nightmares for most of my life has been getting stalked and chased by lions. Sometimes it's in bushland, and sometimes it's in a huge deserted building with many floors and long corridors. One day they might catch me, and I'll be found dead in bed with mysterious claw and teeth marks all over me...  Tongue
