The Manpollo Project

In 2007, a video was posted on the Youtube account "wonderingmind42". The argument had a few holes. The community promptly tore it apart.

The next effort proved much more robust, while strangely attracting fewer views. The proposed solution to the question of global warming has been characterised as "cleverly and concisely covering all the issues". Those committed to their beliefs will no doubt disagree.

What is the solution? No matter what we believe, we could be wrong. So which mistake would you rather risk? The answer to that last question is your solution.

The account "wonderingmind42" belongs to Oregon high school science teacher Greg Craven. His videos are pitched to a young adult audience; the style might grate on older viewers.

Greg went on to produce hours of explanations and backup video. They're available for download in various resolutions from the Manpollo website and youtube.

That argument always leaves a bad taste with me. As a non religious person, it always sounds like a variation on Pascal's Wager.

Faith doesn't enter into it. The science is about as sound as it can get. The problem is one of communicating that science, and therein lies the problem.

I'd rather try to communicate what I know rather than serving up Pascal's Wager. At least this video is a good start in that direction.
