I remember in 2007 Rudd jumped on the Kyoto bandwagon and look at what happened?

(1) Great moral challenge of our time
(2) There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead

I remember in 2007 - Rudd said he wants to get rid off the Pacific Solution (close down Nauru) and look at what happened

(1) 55,000 illegals later
(2) PNG Solution
(3) Nauru Solution
(4) Malaysian Solution

Both policies were the result of "fashion of the day"

When the reality comes home to roost - Australia realised LIBs was and is right

Abbott has the courage to tell it like it is

Rudd is a coward

I agree... athough lately Rudd has been somewhat brave also.

Rudd has already tabled his intent to tax every person in Australia who has savings account funds so as to ensure he has money set aside to save banking institutions should there be a run on the banks.

In short, Rudd ( as PM ) has had the chance to look at the books, he's realised that in true Labor fashion we're virtually on skid row and so he's had to issue a warning that he can already forsee the possibility of what's happened overseas ( ie in Europe ) will also happen here .. and so he needs to prepare for the inevitable financial deluge which lies ahead.

FEDERAL LABOR HAVE ALWAYS AND WILL ALWAYS CONTINUE TO STUFF UP ECONOMICALLY. THAT IS WHY THEY MUST NOT BE VOTED BACK INTO OFFICE IN 2013. FACT!

Oh, I forgot to mention, the above new proposed Ruddian tax was openly stated on every TV news channel a few nights ago and left me totally gobsmacked.

My older family members ie aunts, uncles, mum etc are self funded retirees. They've worked their butt off all their lives, paid taxes .. and made sure they became self reliant so as not to be a burden on Oz (as old age pensioners) .. and as a thank you for being so decent .. RUDD has targetted them .. because they will be hit hard when this new tax comes in as they rely on their savings and any interest earned in order to live day to day.

Shame Labor Shame!

So your saying that we can't look at more than 1 thing at a time?

It may have been voted on recently, however until it passes as an issue it (and we) won't go away.

As a taxpayer I agree there are more important issues which is why I can't understand the opposition.

Get it passed, people get married and we can move on to "more important things!"

does every rejected bill get to be re-presented every 6 months?  of course not.  And the reason for the opposition is not the point.  It HAS been rejected and as such needs to wait in line behind all the other important things and not try an assume some uber-important status ahead of economic issues etc.

from what I read a lot of Labor members wont vote for it either...not everyone is in favor in fact I think its more the other way.....why they are against it.. doesnt make a lot of sense to me....but dont take it as its only the Liberal Party that wont vote for it.......because that isnt so..

A lot of labor members are against it, and a lot are for it ... no one is trying to say they should vote yes for it. On matters like this no one should dictate how you vote. It should be a matter based on your or your constituents beliefs each MP should decide how they vote based on their own principles.. the libs should allow a conscience vote so that the matter is resolved one way or the other ...  not allowing a conscience vote on the matter means the issue will never go away

and you think if a conscience vote failed that the issue would go away?  of course not.  Gays never stop whining about anything regarded to them.  it is NEVER over.  and if gay marriage is granted the next step is to complain about churches not marrying them so there will be endless protesting about that and trying to force the issue.  and on and on and on it goes. it never ends.  so why play the game.

Abbott wasn't referring to same sex marriage when he made the comment about "fashion of the moment". He wasn't even talking about gays.
