As John Howard points out, the rates in Europe are already effectively at ZERO and their economies are not moving & nor are Japan & the USA, who are in the same boat!

In fact, the reality of interest rates is that Governments & Central Banks use them to "influence" the Economy, by raising rates to slow Demand & lowering them to increase Demand.

However, there are situations where Governments & CB's are in CONTROL, where they are in relative control & some where they have
no control
over events at all.

The current event is the latter of the above situations & that will not alter, whether Labor or Liberal win the upcoming election!

Under what circumstance would you suggest the government has done a great job, where economy is booming and interest rates are 2.5%?

Well, I could say, WHEN IS THAT GOING TO HAPPEN?

But, THE TRUTH IS, THAT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN!

I think he does, Whitey. So do many members of this board. We believe that Matty is the best person to take over the means of production, steer the economy and lead a dictatorship of the proletariat.

Matty definately has potential. He once studied medical science at uni.

Yes, but has he worked on the factory floor which is an even greater qualification for leadership...has he stood at the front lines of the pickets in the class war, has he stared the capitalist beast and spat in its eye...Matty is young, he needs to go out fruit picking for peanuts, serve as a communist organizer...
