Kevin Rudd's policy might just work and be the framework for other destination countries to deal with asylum seekers who take to great a risk to attain freedom!!!

couldnt agree more... psycho by all accounts is spending even more mon ey we havent got on advertising in aussie newspapers telling them they cant come here...LOL.. not sure how many languages though..

mind you if psycho losses his seat on the UN over this it might all change.and of course the court case???..I dont think the greens are going to sit back in silence..

You're missing the point of the OP, cods. The refugees in Indonesia are unlikely to embark on a boat trip which will see them escorted to PNG.

These boat-people are highly robust and at the top of their game. It takes a healthy body and mind to set out across the world by foot, plane, and boat for the chance to shop at Western nation supermarkets when not driving taxis the long route for a few extra dollars.

I do like this new extreme right wing policy of Rudd's, however Abbott and the Coalition have been consistent on this issue for over a decade and have a proven track record with it's implementation.
Labor just consistently backflips with their policies depending on which way the wind blows.
Can Labor be trusted to keep this border protection policy once elected?
It wouldn't be the first time Rudd has disposed of a working policy only to install a failed one.
And make no mistake, he'll do it again.

Forget all of the media and political BS. You'll know if Labor smashed people smuggling because the boats will stop. That is the litmus test. If they keep coming then they are still being let into Australia. That's all we need to take notice of. Forget the PNG BS. They'll still sneak them into Australia. Watch the boats aussies.

All will be right if Rudd's new policy stops the boats and puts the smugglers out of business.
Costs will fall as foreign and local detention centres are closed down, and so will deaths at sea.
The real question is whether Rudd will or can actually stick with this policy if he does win at the election.
He cannot be trusted though as he is a serial policy backflipper and has shown policy inconsistency time and time again.
And this policy certainly goes against traditional Labor values, and we know what the Greens think about it.
How long he sticks to this policy is anyone's guess.

It's time some other country around here was given the chance to enjoy the many blessings of enforced multiculturalism.

Rudd could quite possibly now be in line for a Nobel Prize for Services to Humanity for his selfless generosity in helping Papua New Guinea create its own multicultural society with all the benefits that we ourselves have been told are such a blessing to us.

COD ~ you should be celebrating this great good fortune that is about to descend upon the people of PNG.

For 40 years the people of Sydney have been blessed with a growing Muslim population in their midst ~ why should this be denied the people of New Guinea?
