Another One Bites the Dust

In the space of a few weeks, three of the best racehorses in Australia have retired to stud, two of them while only three year olds.

Black Caviar you could understand. There was nothing left for her to prove.

Pierro certainly had a fine record, but could have done so much more.

Now Your Song, effortless winner of the BTC Cup at Eagle Farm on Saturday, will be retiring after just two more races.

Two outstanding three year olds gone. Is it any wonder Australian racing is struggling to attract crowds?

The fact the sport is corrupt probably has a lot to do with it I would think???

Maybe, but to attract big crowds you need champion horses. You only have to look at the drawing power of Black Caviar, when she raced the course was packed.

Both Pierro and Your Song are potential champions lost to racing at far too young an age.
