The Tony Abbott Plan Will Hit The Poor.

Tony Abbott plan to scrap superannuation tax cut 'hits poor'     Sad

    Phillip Hudson
    Herald Sun
    March 29, 2013

MUMS working part-time would be among the hardest hit by Tony Abbott's plan to scrap a superannuation tax cut for 3.6 million people.     Sad

About 910,000 Victorians would suffer a hit to their retirement nest eggs under a Coalition plan to axe a $500 tax cut because it was part of the mining tax package, which it's promised to scrap.     Sad

The Federal Government axed a 15 per cent contributions tax on super for those earning up to $37,000.

Two-thirds of those who would be affected by the Coalition policy are women.

Superannuation Minister Bill Shorten said some of the lowest-paid workers, such as carers, cleaners and shop assistants, and many mums working jobs part-time, would be among the 30 per cent of workers affected.     Sad

Tax office figures show that in Point Cook 7340 women and 4425 men would lose the tax cut under the Coalition.

In neighbouring Tarneit 6790 women and 4270 men would suffer. In Cranbourne, 7170 women and 4015 men would miss out.

The pain would also fall heavily in Ballarat North, Grovedale, Frankston, Narre Warren South, Glen Waverley, Craigieburn, Caroline Springs, St Albans, Hillside and Dandenong.

"Tony Abbott's stubborn commitment to cut this policy . . . will result in some of our lowest-paid workers retiring with much less superannuation," Mr Shorten said.

"This yearly tax cut that instead goes straight into your super savings can end up being worth a big amount by the time you retire."

But the Government has also come under fire for considering reducing a tax break for super contributions for those earning over $180,000 in May's Budget. Cabinet is yet to make a decision.

Mr Abbott said it would be a "smash-and-grab raid".

This is just wrong. As it is the 646,000 people who make up the top five per cent of the income distribution received superannuation tax concessions worth $7.1 billion which is more than the $6.5 billion received by the 6.4 million people who make up the bottom fifty per cent of the income distribution.

Correction: believe nothing that comes out of Labor.

You sound like a character straight from an Orwellian novel.

What exactly don't you believe?

No problem for the Liberals - that is just what they do.

Business as usual, vote for the Libs and that is what you get - no surprise here.

EVERYBODY below 'middle-class' will be hit by these Lib-Nat ass-clowns.

It's long (too long!) been their standard modus operandi.
