During the Pacific Solution, arrivals were counted in the hundreds or less per year. Under the ALP, arrivals are counted in the tens of thousands per year. If ever there was a perfect example of a government changing a policy and making things far, far worse this is it. Labor screwed up big time and is absolutely desperate to shift the blame elsewhere. Pity for them that tactic is as much a failure as their policy change.

they need either libs or greens to support them .. since the greens have always been against of shore processing they were never going to support any changes .. the libs, who would need to pass the same legislation anyway to fully enact their proposals, should have supported them but decided they didn't want the issue to go away. The fact that labor and greens formed a minority govt. does not automatically mean each have to support all of the others policies, and this is one area the greens have always been consistent with ...
