Pope to resign
Feb 11th, 2013 at 9:19pm

Benedict XVI is resigning through ill health.

Is it to much to hope the cardinals will pick someone not in his dotage? An African or South American, perhaps?

Yes it is too much to hope..
By the time anyone is well enough know or has enough friends/political power to be nominated for Pope...they're generally 60+, usually 70+

Here is the full text of why he is resigning

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-21412609

There is more to it then meets the eye

Quote:
Trending in Catholic church, leading bishop has a son just like his God?
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the second man in the Vatican hierarchy after the pope is said to have a thirty year old son.

At the worst possible moment, amid a power struggle within the Vatican with  its own VatiLeaks and a butler who is locked up in a Vatican cell for revealing secrets, the man closest to the pope is accused by Italian newspaper Panorama of having an adult son.

A sin for any bishop, but for the Secretary of State of the Vatican an impossible situation if it´s true. In the middle ages it was not unheard of that popes had mistresses and in the case of Alexander XI complete families with  sons who got appointed as archbishop. Nowadays the church expects strict celibacy and if that fails, at least secrecy.

That Italian paper Panorama now breaks the secrecy is a signal of the fierce power battle over the dominance by the current Pope and his second man. The Vatican denied the accusation of course and the Cardinal has accused the press of writing fiction worthy of Dan Brown's lurid allegations and intrigues in the Da Vinci Code novel.

"Many journalists like to play at imitating Dan Brown. They continue to make up fairy tales or re-hash legends," he said, but for many observers its obvious that the real power struggle in the Vatican supersedes Dan Brown´s thrillers.

The book by Vatican watcher Nuzzi "Your Holiness" based on the leaked memos will surely get a reprint if this last rumor turns out to be true. It´s actually amazing that most of this ongoing scandal is hardly covered by the US press.

I wonder if the Pope will retain his supernatural power of being infallible after he resigns?

Dear KJT,
so now they will elect some other chump to wear that stupid hat & call himself infallible.
The whole saga is absurd but I suppose you believe in it?

you are forgiven
