and then they wonder why certain jobs are sent offshore...no I dont think apprentices should be underpaid..especially when they are working on the real jobs...but for goodness sakes.. they are learning..if they were doing it in school  they wouldnt be paid anything..its all right for the unions who are more interested in drumming up new members...than anything else...but we have already priced ourselves out of markets that we will never get back..

lets see the union forego their fees to these guys whilst they are learning.. hahahah I bet that doesnt happen.

It's fascinating to see cods in her true light. Just another unpleasant union basher. The thought of possible power brings out the worst in some people.

They should be paid in proportion to their productivity.  Some bright apprentices are very productive and are indeed under paid as they are paid the same as their under performing workmates because of obsolete collective awards.

Employers are free to pay bright apprentices any amount over the Award/Agreement rates they wish.

The Awards/Agreements merely set the minimum standards: there is absolutely nothing stopping an employer paying an employee a higher rate in line with their higher productivity.

You continually demonstrate that you know absolutely nothing about industrial relations.

You've made a complete fool of yourself on at least three occasions now.

I'd suggest that you stick to a subject that you know at least something about.

Obviously that is correct but in my experience employers are few and far between who will pay over an award. They have to be forced to pay ppl fairly. Although I did have a job in cairns for a while that paid about twice the award. It was great money. Wasnt an apprenticeship though.

Most of this type of work is covered by NEW modern awards only a few years old.
