most christians don't even understand the definition of athiesm but like to convince others there is so much more to the definition  when there isn't.

noun
a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings.

simple definition but christians will tell lies about atheist ideology etc Grin

While atheism denies god, everyone judges from a moral, epistemological, and/or ontological framework or perspective. What I'd like to see is atheists explain their point of departure for positive judgements. By 'positive' I don't mean a negation of religious superstitions, but an assertion of a number of principles on how people ought to act and/or think.

For the record, I am not religious.

do unto others as have them do to you.

So the best you can come up with is poaching a christian principle?

LOL.  Well done cobber.

Some atheists may believe that and some may not. It has nothing to do with the lack of belief in a deity.

Basically being an atheist isnt too bad these days (you just live your life without the guilt imposed by religions) but occasionally some arsehole comes along and asks your religion. Then the judgements start. Anything you say or do is suddenly wrong (even though it wasnt before).

All world views, religious or secular, contain judgements.

Thats not what im talking about which you already knew didnt you.

The religious buts that find out you are an atheist suddenly start making judgements on you.

It's not christian eh?  Then why's it in the bible, twerp?

Quote:
Matthew 7:12 - Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Luke 6:31 - And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

FFS, christians don't act like that TO YOU because to suffer your boundless inanity requires the patience of a god.

Seriously? I thought you understood everything? Yet you cant understand the simple concept that humanity thought up these concepts before the bible? Why are there so many similar concepts in budhism islam and Hinduism?

So judging is trolling. Perhaps you need to steer clear of debate boards and whatever Christian circles you are in outside the forum.

Because they're all based on "natural law", and yet atheists, in their profound wisdom, reject these simple, time-honoured truths.

Any other tenuously-related questions you'd like answered while we're at it?

LOL.  Well done cobber.

The principle is universal (not restricted to Christianity nor invented by Christians). It appears in almost exactly the same form in nearly every human ethics system and is fundamental to nearly all.

Yep, but whether others share it or not, it's still a principle of christianity.
