FD should actually turn on some features, like a reputation system where we can like/dislike posts would be great.
It would only be used as a political tool to discredit people whose comment may be right but they do not agree with politically.
Concur.
EVERY forum I've visited that uses reps or thumbs up/down eventually sees it abused.
I've seen one forum (no, I won't name it) where some posters with recent join-dates and a small number
of posts to their credit end up with massive rep status and heaps of 'badges', while some others are banned
within days or weeks, often with no rhyme or reason.
The potential is there, for everyone from the forum owner and the admins, through the moderators, and
down to individual posters and cliques, to abuse a rep or badge system.
OTOH, a simple like/dislike setup similar to that found on Farcebook would be OK. I've often felt
in sympaticowith posts but haven't the time or need to write a post saying so, or the post may be a page or two back and
the discussion has moved on.
To click a like/dislike button would show my opinion of the post without needing to actually reply. And
if done like Farcebook, have a little pop-up show
who likes or dislikes a given post.
Just an idea, and only an opinion, so don't bite my head off....

au fait with how this forum works 'under the hood' and
so do realise that this may not even be possible.
