Obama Re-elected!
Nov 7th, 2012 at 2:37pm

WRAPUP 19-Networks project Obama re-elected as U.S. president

* Obama wins re-election to second four-year term

* Balance of power in Congress likely to stay same

By Steve Holland and John Whitesides

WASHINGTON, Nov 6 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama won re-election to a second term in the White House on Tuesday, television networks projected, beating Republican challenger Mitt Romney after a long and bitter campaign.

Obama defeated Romney in a series of key swing states despite a weak economic recovery and persistent high unemployment as U.S. voters decided between two starkly different visions for the country.

Obama's narrow wins in Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire - all states that Romney had contested - effectively ended Romney's hopes of capturing the 270 electoral votes needed to clinch the White House.

At least 120 million American voters were expected to cast votes in the race between the Democratic incumbent and Romney after a campaign focused on how to repair the ailing U.S. economy.

Obama enters his second four-year term faced with a difficult task of tackling $1 trillion annual deficits, reducing a $16 trillion national debt, overhauling expensive social programs and dealing with a gridlocked U.S. Congress that looked likely to maintain the same partisan makeup.

Q. What difference will that make?

A. Very little, effectively!

Q. What difference would a Romney win have made?

A. Very little, effectively!

It's not going to happen, for two major reasons -
1) Immigration, legal & illegal, will decline.
2) The Republicans are more on the nose, with immigrants, than they are with White US Males, according to the US commentators.

I have to repeat post this in answer to THAT Smiley

A friend of mine in LA, a Communist and LW activist, wanted Romney to win. They figure nothing short of a catastrophe will bring change to the USA, and had high hopes Romney would deliver that.

Well, the US Presidential Electoral system has given Obama a comfortable win.

However, the last actual vote details seems to have both Obama & Romney locked together at 49% each and with about 100 million votes counted, the difference was only about 20,000 in favour of Obama.

So, whilst I'm sure some will say Obama won easily, the reality is there was very little in it.

That said and when you throw in that the Republicans have clearly retained control of the US House of Reps, it means that US Politics will remain in gridlock for another 4 years!

The problem is, THE US & INDEED THE WORLD CAN NOT WAIT ANOTHER 4 YEARS.

In fact, WE ARE PRETTY MUCH OUT OF TIME ALREADY!

So, whatever the Political leaning of your friend, yourself and everyone else, WE NOW ENTER THE EVE OF THE BIG CRUNCH!

Or, as Barry Maguire would be put it -
