You want to reduce the income of the "middle class" which would move them in time into the "lower/working class" and make them more dependent on welfare?

Yes I agree that Tony Abbott is stupid.

And force retirees on to the pension by reducing their superannuation payout?  What would that achieve?

Barry would love that.  He would see it as a green light to dip into our pockets again.

Changing tax concessions for superannuation shouldn't be about lowering peoples payouts. At the moment there are a lot of loopholes in the system, which the very wealthy are best positioned to exploit - all taxpayers are picking up the bill for that. The point of the system has been to make sure people can fund their retirement and not rely on the pension - Australia can't afford to have all the baby boomers living off the pension.

State taxes are a mess. What I mean is to clean up some of this and ensure that states have taxes that are efficient, equitable and don't cause too much damage to their own economies. They should have a tax system that gives them enough fiscal space to fund schools, hospitals etc into the future withought running up large debts or asking the Commonwealth to keep topping their budgets up.

Seriously?

Point 1 - All liberals policies, remember the hand wringing that those on 240K wouldn't be able to afford food from all Liberal supporters here and All Liberal politicans within the parliament when Labor started means testing the PHR???
Imagine if they removed it totally???

Point 2. - Agree, but again the only policy we actually have from Tone is to increase company tax on ANY business that TURNSOVER more than 5 mill.
Again I ask does anyone here actually know what TURNOVER is???
It's not profit, it's not even gross profit before tax
It what goes thru your till before ANY expenses are deducted.
My little family business turned over roughly 2 mill last year, so don't be fooled by the lie they are trying to run that only large companies will pay.

Point 3 - Agree & again Labor has been muting change & again coalition cries foul

POINT 4 - excellent idea, I would add increase the GST to between 15 & 17%

Point 5 - What do you suggest?

Point 5 - Sorry to say but without doing a lot more thinking it would be something akin to Workchoices. At a minimum governments should consider bringing back the AWA arrangements - something that lets employers and employees negotiate conditions that suit them (working from home 1 day a week, carer time out etc).

I had been on AWAs since starting out in 1999 until they were axed. Mine just mirrored the organisation's certified agreement, so I thought it was just a photocopy and signature box on mine. Others I know had theirs modified for extra leave each year and other things.

If they hadn't had thrown the no disadvantage test away W/C probably would have worked.

Seriously why is the middle class getting handouts? The poor need it more. The middle class have their own income. If the car factories cant survive they should close. Or maybe nationalise them? Hahahaha!

The rest i might agree with

Our car industry is miniscule by comparison to those in countries such as the US, Japan, China. They make cars by the millions, whereas we make cars by the thousands. Our car companies simply cannot compete on a global market. Australians already pay the highest price for cars anywhere in the world. Part of this is due to protection of the local car industry. Ford last year reported a big loss, whereas GMH reported its biggest ever profit - AFTER a handout from the government. Currently, the Gillard government is handing out the equivalent of $100,000 for every car industry worker in Australia. The present situation is unsustainable and one leading car industry expert said that it wouldn't be a bad thing if we didn't make cars here anymore because it would mean cars (even the luxury cars) would become much, much cheaper. He also said that no car industry isn't some kind of death sentence. He cited NZ as an example and they are doing just fine without a car industry.

what do you really support here , I was under the impression you were unemployed the same as others here.

for you to say the carbon tax isn't effecting you, that you can still afford everything you need. well then you must have a nest egg under the bed, that the government or the banks can't take from you.

Fingers in many pies.
