Which is???????????????????

Which is, that the argument for homorriage is equally applicable to any and all perversions of the male/female paradigm.  Allow one, and you have no grounds to deny any.

Do you really care if your neighbor sticks it in a horse.

How does it effect your life?

Right back at the homos...or to be more accurate, the leftist agitators.

How does it effect YOUR life if I have a certificate recognising my union and you don't?

It's doesn't & more to the point I couldn't careless, spell it out in Xmas lights if you want(as long as they don't shine into my bedroom & keep me awake)

The "slippery slope" or "thin end of the wedge" argument is a standard logical fallacy. There is no reason why gay marriage could or would lead to bestiality or incest being made legal.

As for where one draws the line, I would have thought it's rather obvious.

On bestiality particularly,it should be obvious to anyone equipped with even a tiny fraction of a brain. Simply, bestiality involves sex between different species (for a start), only one of which is unable to give informed consent. Last time I looked, two gay men are both human beings, and both able to give informed consent. Also, I don't think the pony down the road is capable of speaking any marriage vows. Grin Grin

On incest, there are medical and scientific reasons (as opposed to simply religious/moral reasons) why sex between close relatives is unwise.

Theres also no compelling reason why homorriage should be made legal.  They're free to pair off as they please, but marriage is a very specific institution, which they don't meet the criteria for.
IF the criteria is relaxed for one group based on reason X, precedent is set, and reason X is equally applicable to any union.

The way dogs hump legs, other dogs or inanimate objects suggests consent isn't a problem for them.

No, those reasons apply to reproduction, not sex itself.
Funnily enough there are medical and scientific reasons why sex (not reproduction, obviously) between two males is unwise.  Shot yourself in the foot there buddy.

Besides, we're talking about marriage, not sex.

The problem I have it though is that often the Gay Lobby will quote about how gay marriages are legal elsewhere.

As if that means anything.

You can use that very same argument to point out that in Saudi Arabia 65 year old men marry 8 year old girls.

We wouldn't do that in Australia either.

Bernardi was going too far admittedly.

And can those two humping dogs (or one for that matter) speak vows in a marriage ceremony? No? So perhaps you'd care to explain how they could possibly participate in such a ceremony?  Cheesy

The bottom line is that Bernardi's argument is patently ridiculous. Argue the pros and cons of gay marriage all you like, but trying to argue using the logical fallacy of the slippery slope is not in any way a valid argument.

On incest.... Male-female marriage (almost) invariably leads to sex, which invariably leads to the chance of reproduction. While you're right that there are medical risks involved in M-M sex that can be higher that the risks involved in M-F sex, that risk applies to the consenting couple, not their (non-consenting) potential offspring.

Yes, this is talking of sex not marriage, and in both cases whether the couple is married or not is irrelevant. One difference is that incestual sex is illegal, homosexual sex is not.

Although 5 years ago I probably opposed the thought of gay marriage, I've changed my mind. If two blokes want to get married, who am I to stand in their way?

BUT the issue isn't about sex it is about marriage.

Marriage isn't about medical and scientific reasons either.  It is simply a law of society.

Benardi simply asks the question that if society is happy removing same sex marriage from the 'taboo' list......what's next?

A valid question, and your brain would have to be mythical if you deny this....  Grin

Ah.  Speech is the only form of consent?

It'd be an awful shame if you were born mute, or had some sort of accident involving your vocal cords.

Without getting too graphic, say your missus was naked and bending over in front of you - would you call that consent, or do you need her to specifically state that she wants you to take her?

Of course, the "consent" angle lends itself more easily to other sorts - incest and polygamy.  though I actually don't have much of a problem with polygamy.

I'm almost the same - if two blokes want to couple off, who am I to stand in their way?  But calling it a marriage, when marriage already has a definition is wrong.  I don't mean morally wrong, I mean factually wrong - the equivalent of saying 1+ 1 = 3.  Many can overlook this and happily engage in such deception, but not me.

Sure and when that question is asked society can debate the pro's & con's of that issue, just as we are now with this.

So can you come up with any reason, other than your possible hypothetical questions on other subjects, that 2 men or women couldn't marry?

Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi has resigned as Opposition leader Tony Abbott's personal parliamentary secretary following widespread furore over the South Australian's comments that legislating for gay marriage could lead to the legalising of bestiality.

In announcing Senator Bernardi's resignation Mr Abbott said his contribution to the same-sex marriage debate was unwelcome.

"They are views that I don't share. They are views that many people will find repugnant," Mr Abbott said.

Labor and the Greens had called on Mr Abbott to sack Senator Bernardi after his remarks in the Senate last night that allowing same-sex marriage would lead to demands to legalise bestiality and polygamy.

What's wrong Tone?

Feeling a little unloved?

Need to now court the centralist vote?

Remember this is not the 1st totally repugnant thing this MORON has uttered(funeral costs anyone?), yet you backed him.

You backed him with his tea party style rallies on the CT.

Your Gone Tone, you'll never be PM.

So what's actually wrong with discussing the bestiality topic?

Nothing

But if you want to try & link it to something else you better have proof or make it seem plausible.

Unless of course you happy to support the notion that a belief in God will lead you to have sex with young boys?

He's not linking homosexuality and bestiality, he's using the 'slippery slope' argument. That once you decriminalize something, it then opens the gates for things of that nature to be decriminalized.

Homosexuality has been decriminalized for quite a few decades now, hows that slope going.

Can you report any slippage.

Not at the moment. But it wouldn't surprise me if it was made sometime in the future.

No it's not

The marriage act doesn't specify between a man & a women, although maybe that was added a few months or a year ago(have to check) when it looked like this was not going to go away.
Being gay is not illegal
Engaging in same sex bedroom gymnastics is not illegal

So what exactly are you contending is against the law?

Seems self evident to me, but it depends on what you see marriage as.

IF you think it is solely an expression of love, there is no grounds to deny them.  But, marriage as an expression of love is only a very recent idea in the scheme of things.

Marriage is/was first and foremost a reflection of the complementary relationship of man and woman.  The type of relationship without which none of us would be here.  As this sort of union is so fundamentally important, it deserves it's own institution.  That is, if you care about natural law and tradition at all.  And if you don't.....well, I don't care about you.
