I'm interested Cods, what would you call something that is paid for by taxation?

not sure that I understand that smithy... if you are asking do I believe in taxation of course I do...

I visit a hospital... its paid for out of taxes and I appreciate that..

what would I call something that is paid for by taxation???

a tax funded necessity???????..

I dont know what you mean..are you saying I am complaining about TAXES??????..I am past doing that old bean.

No Cods not implying anything, just asking a question

I'll ask it again with a little more clarity,

Would you consider something funded by taxation a tax?

well look at it this way smithy...

every thing the govt spends is a TAX..oh sneaky I know.. like rego for one.. even speeding fines to me its all TAX..

so I cant think of one thing the govt does that they dont use TAXES for..so I guess the answer is yes..

I have always said a TAX IS A TAX IS A TAX no matter what you call it..a levy by any other name is a TAX

its what they do with it that bothers me..

so what point are you making smithy?????.

can you tell me where the govt gets money from that isnt a TAX on someone or something?

who spends TAXES? as far as I know its only the govts of the day sadly in the case of the present one.. we are not getting good value.

Then how can Tony tell you he will not have a carbon tax when his direct action is funded by taxation?

Is Tony being honest, after all not 10 minutes ago you posted

AS for this

cods wrote on Sep 6th, 2012 at 11:49am:
ugh! how ugly is that tirade?

Truth is often ugly, which is why it is avoided.

he is talking about either taking out of taxes we already pay... or he was talking taxing BIG business..

no more no less than what gillard did when she slammed half the nation with flood levy..[read tax]

its like everything else and what I said smithy

its what they spend it on that bothers me..like funding half bn school in Indonesia.. no thank you...

in fact I resent every penny we give that nation...and this lot cant wait to give them more.

as for the tirade.. like most other things was it justified?????????..it did more damage to you than the other party

and its good to know that how you really think and feel..a couple of times you have done the same thing and then made out it was some kind of joke..... now we know the TRUTH  dont we..

Matty hates Mr Turnbull, Cods. When he comes back to Australia, he'll probably back Mr Abbott 100%.

Maybe. Abbott does a marvellous job as opposition leader.

But the question is whether he will do a good job as PM.

I think he'll be a fine Prime Minister. It's always difficult presenting your views and persona from the opposition.

What do you think of his economic policies, Shane?

He'll be in charge of all you Canberra economists when he gets in.

I don't support Abbott's direct action plan on global warming - this is expensive and will achieve nothing.

I don't sipport paid maternity leave paid for a tax on large business. We shouldn't be susbsidising peoples' lifestyle choices.

Honesty is the best policy: Turnbull swipes at Abbott and 'deficit of trust'

MALCOLM TURNBULL has decried the state of political discourse in Australia, saying it had deteriorated to such an extent that the nation suffered "a deficit of trust" and there was an urgent need for honesty in politics.

In comments that are bound to be construed as critical of the style of Tony Abbott, Mr Turnbull cited his own keen area of interest, the science of climate change, as a victim of what passed these days for political debate.

Delivering a lecture in Perth last night, Mr Turnbull said it was an inescapable fact that greenhouse gases caused the earth to warm.

"Politicians and shock jocks, scientists and coal barons, all of them can argue for as long as they like, but they cannot change the physical reality," he said. "I won't linger on climate change – the hopeless, confused, hyper-partisan nature of the debate is too well known to rehearse.

He's currently in New Zealand, but when he gets back he intends to run for the Liberal Party.

This could change the numbers for Mr Abbott. Remember, Mr Abbott only got in by one vote.

maybe if you didnt agree with the messiah on everything that comes our of her mouth... you would have a different perspective as well..

just because someone us on here or Turnbull doesnt agree with everything that Abbott does.. doesnt mean we dont want him as the Leader..

Abbott doesnt need his boots licked every morning. like some do.I am sure he would prefer honesty to lies and back stabbing.

You need to be strong.

You need to say - this is why we should not pay.
There should be private investment
.
If there is to be taxes to fund - then take from other areas which do not harm your country or the citizens.
I don't have a Aussie political view on your parties, it is not my say - but i do have a view on climate change.
It should be the world's worst polluters who must take the most action and then other countries work to provide private investment.

I just gave you one example of the Hydro plant funded by Toyota.

I know several others, my uncle's company is a major investor in a wind power generation funded by investment, USA grants and from Government land lease.

No tax, no price increase. Just energy.

You are taking the easy option and hitting the taxpayer in both your ideas.

lol,..... jews love that word investment!

As for the tax bit: ya tax what doesn't move!! Otherwise you are promoting inefficency in the tax regime!!

I don't think I've ever denied that I am a arrogant son of a bitch, in fact I wear it as a badge of honour.

I have very little time for fools, which probably explains my low tolerance for most politicians today, especially Abbott & his bunch of deceitful clowns.

Sometime I go overboard but as you know personally I will admit my mistake & apologize to those i have upset or offended.

Don't bother with the usual comeback to the deceitful clown remark, I know it, I acknowledge it, but Abbott is lying to you, you know & fail to acknowledge it.
