Honesty is the best policy: Turnbull swipes at Abbott and 'deficit of trust'

MALCOLM TURNBULL has decried the state of political discourse in Australia, saying it had deteriorated to such an extent that the nation suffered "a deficit of trust" and there was an urgent need for honesty in politics.

In comments that are bound to be construed as critical of the style of Tony Abbott, Mr Turnbull cited his own keen area of interest, the science of climate change, as a victim of what passed these days for political debate.

Delivering a lecture in Perth last night, Mr Turnbull said it was an inescapable fact that greenhouse gases caused the earth to warm.

"Politicians and shock jocks, scientists and coal barons, all of them can argue for as long as they like, but they cannot change the physical reality," he said. "I won't linger on climate change – the hopeless, confused, hyper-partisan nature of the debate is too well known to rehearse.

when it comes to HONESTY

THE BEGINNING OF THE END i WOULD SAY...

Abbott as far as I can make out hasnt lied.. he just doesnt accept human caused thats all..

yes Malc.. we do need to clean up our air and our waterways and find better ways of dealing with garbage..and sewage.. for sure... no one doubts that and no one doubts that with the way we are changing at a very fast rate these days...

it will all happen eventually

.... and throwing money at it wont stop the bloody ice caps melting.

Tony Abbott and the faithful have no problem denying science and ignoring experts when the evidence does not support their bullshit.....One must ask the question who will Tony Abbott listen to if he becomes PM.....I suspect the door will be wide open for the Christian lobby and big business but closed to science and reality.....Abbott will be a complete disaster and Turnbull knows it!!!

Climate change is being treated with contempt by Abbott.....Direct Action is a load of crap that only an idiot would support.....Direct Action will also not work as it relies on unproven science and rubbery figures.....Yet the Conga line refuse to accept Abbott is a flake???

Well, if we want to talk about DIShonesty then we should of course remember the words from Temporary Tony himself:

"Sometimes in the heat of discussion you go a little bit further than you would if it was an absolutely calm, considered, prepared, scripted remark."

or to rephrase for you cods (because I know you have trouble remembering to the end of such a long sentence), Tony says:

"I don't think twice about lying through my teeth"

dont forget we have already been through fudging of figures from the so called expert scientists...all sort of gone off the radar now of course..

seems to me we have two side to this coin... and it all comes down to whom you believe...

but in this case I use common sense.. I know not every one believes in that either..

but so help me nothing will ever make me believe throwing money at GW will make it go away..

I also have to wonder.. as its the greens that are the most ardent on human caused GW.. why are they so against building more dams????

I would have thought water would be the one thing that anyone who believes the Al Gore message.. and Flannerys of course...water should be saved at all costs...yet the greens wont have a bar of dams....

you could save a fortune not unwinding the carbon tax
you could save a fortune not bringing in the rolls royce maternity leave
you could save a fortune reducing nbn to fibre to the node.

therefore, because its the obvious thing to do, my prediction is, they wont do it Wink
