Its not slander if they are SOB.

He was arrested, charged and before the courts for assult and obstruction.

At the time Abbott made his speech he had a reasonable belief that they guy was in fact a thug.

Its not slander if its true, and the actions of this guy now further prove the point.

Abbott has no case to answer, but nice try.

You arent making sense. He made the comment BEFORE the guy engaged in any "thuggish behaviour". It doesnt absolve abbott from slandering @ the time.

SOB

oh sob I do feel sorry for you....

this man has a record of violence.. Abbott wasnt referring to him trying to run someone over...

this man is a UNION THUG...he harks back to the bad old days of painters and dockers.

surely you dont support that behavior no matter how loyal you are?

he has 6 assault charges against the police..alone.

would you like one of yours to grow up to be like this man???

Oh cods i feel sorry for you . . . .

Abbott didnt KNOW about those previous convictions and the media brought that out.

Loyal? WTF are you talking about?

Abbott was calling the guy names. He slandered him.

SOB

His two convictions and fines in 2003 and 2010 were quite high profile, and Abbott was well aware of them when he made the comments.

He didnt slander him at all.

How would you know? Did you ask him? Why didnt he mention it when he was asked about slandering the guy?

SOB

Considering I remember reading about them once all this blew up, Im sure Abbott was well aware of them.

His convictions in 2003 and 2010 were a matter of public record.

Then you wont have any problems finding links then . . . .

Your justifications dont answer the question though. Why didnt abbott mention it when he was told he was being sued for slander?

SOB

He doesnt need to. That is for when he gets some lawyer to go to court to get it thrown out.

He does need to back himself up if he is going to slander ppl in public . . . .

SO

You are missing it, he has two convictions for abuse and intimidation.

Thats all the proof he needs.

Two convictions on the public record mate, and he didnt directly call him a thug, he made reference to the very behaviour he was convicted of.

It was quite clever actually.

Funny how many others in the room got what he meant as well.

''So many of you have got to go onto sites every day and you've got to deal with the John Setkas of this world every day … the last thing you need is home visits.

''Those home visits we know take place. We know they take place because people like Mr Setka have told us that they take place.''

2 convictions, hmmm, lets see shall we SOB.
