Stick to the topic.

Why are you making these people your problem?

it is the topic ... you just don't like the answer ... you make these people your problem for the same reasons people made the Jews their problems during WWII ..... or is it different because they were Jews?

Why are you bringing Jews into it?
We are talking about the problem people now that come on boats.
You are changing the subject.

I am telling you that you make it worse by being soft.
Why do you make someone else's problem your problem??

your talking about refugees ... I'm comparing yesterdays refugees with todays refugees ... if your argument was sound shouldn't it be consistant no matter who the refugees are? you argument changes depending on who they are, making your argument flawed ....

when the jews were being persecuted they wanted compassion and a chance to live their lives , thats all todays refugees want ... I find jewish attitudes more disturbing than anybody elses' because they are the ones who SHOULD be more understanding given that they weren't in such a different position not so long ago .

No one died at sea or in detention centres during the entire duration of the Pacific Solution. Around 1,000 have died at sea since Rudd dismantled that policy. Given these facts, you're comments show just how ignorant you are.

Labor introduced the Bill, its their policy.

Following your logic, the dental plan isn't Labor policy, it's Abbott's dental plan. Coalition introduced dental care, Labor have just changed it a bit.

Labor policy was Malaysia. The policy introduced is everything except Malaysia. Greens policy was onshore processing. This is offshore processing. The bill that was introduced was a cave in to Coalition policy which was Nauru so as to get some kind of movement from what we had.

Well... we got Nauru. We got Coalition policy. And it isn't working, just as I predicted. Maybe you'd like to show me how this is just a spurious correlation? That really there are no refugees on boats it's all a figment of my imagination?

we should never got rid- off Nauru!!!

Labor have never accepted responsibility and admit they got it wrong!

Even now - they are calling this action a "Houston Report action"

Even now they are unwilling to accept responsibility

Labor continue to play their political games

Yes - all sides play their political games. But when people are dying as a result of their policies then I expect Labor to front up and accept responsibilities

Labor was quick enough to apologise to the Stolen Generation - but where's the apology to the families of those who died as a result of Labor getting rid off the Pacific Solution?

Oh yeah, we can just SEE how well it is working now. I've told you before that Nauru worked for about a year. Two at most. And then it started NOT working. That given the history there was no reason to assume it would work now. Well, it AIN'T working now.

You got what you demanded and people are dying. What now genius?

I hope the Libs have learnt a valuable lesson here..if you invade and destabilise countries you are going to create a stream of refugees.
How many boats were there before Howards invasions?

2 of the top 4 countries of origin are Sri Lanka and Iran.

(i know you will ignore this fact again, but i thought i would put it up anyway)

It is an excellent question.

How does this relate to Sri Lanka or even Sudan?

I ignore Iran, because I am hopeful that Iran is bombed to the middle ages.

Suspected Illegal Entry Vessel X went down in a storm in international waters. Dangerously over loaded. People smuggling is an awful thing.

So we didn't have much to do with the civil war in Sri Lanka. Does that make the Tamils any less refugees?

There's at least one whole thread on this. Probably more. But I can't expect goldfish to remember that. Try this thread for starters: http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1340858860/180
