This is the beginning of the end for Labor, both at state and federal levels.

Only for one term. They are all the same, so people vote them out, then vote them out again in a never ending effort to get a decent government.

They replace bad with bad. So be it!

We had a good government until 2007 and unfortunately a lot of people fell for the nonsense coming from Kevin747's potty mouth.

And Johnny had to go.

Which he did.

Convincingly.

He is a terrible war criminal.

Really? Has he ever been in court? Ever charged with anything? No one other than nutjob bloggers have raised the prospect of his supposed "war crimes"...

its all they have AP.. I laugh.. look at the phony tony threads they have..its all hatred on a keyboard..nothing of substance..can you imagine this lot on facebook...all nasty and taunting..and big girly stuff. I feel sorry for them to be honest...

and if anyone should be charged with war crimes I look at Whitlam when they sided with Indonesia even after they murdered our journalists. they didnt blink an eye did they??

left East Timor to the devil.

hindsight is a fantastic thing I have heaps of it...

except of course the opposite is true. Australia has remarkably stable govt with govts falling in one term almost unknown.

thankyou .... thats exactly why libs won't win the next election you moron .....

you do know this is a TWO-TERM labor govt? I dont credit you with much, but the ability to count to two doesnt seem that hard.

Its not surprising that a govt falls after 11 yrs in power..It may surprise a few people here but that's pretty much the pattern we've had federally and in the states and territories for a very long time.
An opposition would have to be pretty incompetent not to eventually grab govt after more than a decade in the wilderness no matter how good or bad the incumbent is.
Two terms seems to be the limit and after that whether its Labor or Coalition its all downhill from there unless of course they can rig some sort of gerrymander but even that's close to impossible these days.
Good on the CLP it looks like 2 terms for them until the wheel turns again.

nice thoughts except in 2004 Howard won BOTH hosues comfortably.

and the polls point to an easy coalition win. But labor supporters dont beleive in polls - even after they get crushed at elections.

Its easier to live in the delusional world than to face the reality that Labor's power sharing with the Greens will never work

The Country Liberals have joined the ranks of conservative state governments across Australia by winning the Northern Territory election.

Surprisingly, the election looks to have been decided by the bush seats, which are unhappy with the Federal Governments intervention. You would have to say that Ms Gillard and her policies must have played a part as well. Wouldn't you?

Bess Price is a good chance of winning the seat of Stuart which is on a knife edge. Good luck Bess. What a novelty it would be to have Bess in the NT Legislative Assembly!!! Refreshing.

Congratulations to the CLP and Territorians for making the right choice.

Lynn

OH LOL love this new sock.

lol cool. All the parties have to do is swap the leader before each election, then get john dummy here to state that they deserve an extra term because this is their first.

Kind of like the magic packet of biscuits that never run out. Brilliant. Just brilliant.

well lets put it in terms you might understand...

TWO TERMS as PM.

and the discussion was on GOVTS not PMs. Gillard was Pm for portion of the first term and so far, all of the second term.

So, you are wrong both ways of describing it.

No words can descrive the sheer jubilation, pride, joy and contentment that I feel at present. I am so happy that my Territorians have voted out this inept and incompetent government. Henderson was a tool and a gutless wonder who went along with anything that Gillard said. He NEVER stood up to her and he didn't even have the guts to campaign as a Labor politicians, which is what he is.

Good riddance. Just another appetiser for the federal election. So much for the election being a nail-biter. The CLP had won within 2 hours and received over 50% of the prmary vote alone. The only question now is how much the margin will be. 16-8, 15-9 or 14-10? Hopefully Bess Price and Frances Xavier manage to pull off Stuart and Arafura, respectively.
