The current mining boom continues to exceed expectations

Tuesday, 31 July 2012

...

The value of Australia’s resource and energy exports in 2010-11 increased by 27 per cent from a year earlier to a record $175 billion.
The Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics estimates the value of our mineral and energy commodity exports will increase by a further 21 per cent to $215 billion in 2011-12 as a result of growth in the production of iron ore, liquefied natural gas, copper, crude oil, metallurgical coal and thermal coal.

Since the Government announced details of the Minerals Resource Rent Tax and its plans to put a price on carbon, resource companies have approved billions of dollars of new spending on coal, iron ore, petroleum and other resource projects.

New capital expenditure on minerals and energy projects in 2010-11 was the highest on record and nearly four times the average annual expenditure of the past 30 years.
There is over $430 billion worth of planned or committed investment in the pipeline.
This year national exploration expenditure for minerals and energy is estimated to increase to $6.3 billion, from $5.7 billion in the previous year.

When we see Tonys policies we might be able to tell if his plans match his rhetoric & if his back flipped on anything.
The fact he stated a tax on carbon was the easiest & simplest way to go about the issue but now he is against that idea is a back flip to me but I'm sure you'll point the error of my thinking out.

No new taxes then introduces a tax on every business TURNING OVER more than 5mill has a whiff about it too.

Workplace relations laws brought in by the Labor Government of Australia have not played well I know that much.

The legislation now for Fair Work Australia where we have to hand a leaflet out for every employee who starts in our ANZ entity is a timebomb.

Handing out to employees which says -

"Employees have the right to take 12 months maternity leave, with an option of 12 months beyond that, also to return to work at a timeframe suitable to their personal circumstance"

"Employee work hours must be fair and reasonable to their personal lives and not extend beyond 38 hours"

"An employer cannot discriminate within a role because of an employee's personal circumstance which may prevent them from working the specific hours mentioned"

I could go on.

Seriously, Fair Work Australia - brought in by this Government - has done nothing for the view held in Head Office that Australia is a Socialist country.

It's bad for business and bad for the country.

Another own-goal.

If it so bad why not suggest pulling out, 22 million people is hardly a major city in the northern hemisphere, your bottom linr would hardly notice it Wink

Policy? You mean thought bubble don't you because Lieberals don't HAVE any policies.

But Backflip Tony backflips on a daily basis on the few thought bubbles he does have.

No policies, eh? How about scrapping carbon dioxide tax, scrapping mining tax, resurrecting Pacific Solution to name just a few? Tony hasn't backflipped on anything. The Coalition has had the same policy on illegal immigrants consistently for more than a decade - unlike Labor, who has have held more positions than Craig Thomson's prostitutes. The Coalition has numerous policies listed on the Liberal and Nationals websites if you bother to look. You're just whining because the end of nigh for this Leftarded government.

There not policies they are reactions & slogans to makes simple minded people happy.
Seems to have worked Grin

Scrapping CT - OK fine are we keeping all the compensation & tax reforms, if so where's the money coming from

Same with the Mining Tax

You see a policy is just a slogan until a path for implementation is mapped out & discussed with the public.
Then there's funding for said slogan that needs to be found.
Negotiation through both house......ooppps silly me it's Tony's Way or the DD way isn't it.
Every thought bubble done his way to the letter or were off to the polls because he knows whats best for us & well we will back him right?

But you are happy so,

Scrap carbon tax - remove compensation. A load of us get nothing anyway.

Scrap Fair Work Australia and replace with a more business and growth friendly set of industrial relations laws.

The current ones are a joke.

Exactly. Only Labor would be capable of coming up with a sick joke of a tax where they take with one hand and give it back with the other hand. Bunch of neanderthals! As for FWA, it's only "fair" if you're in a Union or representing a Union.

Scrapping the carbon tax will not require retention of any amount of compensation, as the compensation is contingent upon there being a tax. This is a Coalition policy that will directly save taxpayers and will enhance Australia's attractiveness for foreign investment, which is currently being scared off under Labor.

The mining tax is also having a negative impact on both investment and jobs, with an announcement this week that a smelter in QLD will be closing earlier than scheduled due to the carbon tax. Scrapping this tax, which is Coalition policy, will make Australia more attractive to investors both here and abroad.

Labor has, since 2007, failed to stop the boats. It has, in fact, made the problem exponentially worse. Each week our Navy transfers the same number of people to Christmas Island that arrived during the entire 5 years of the Pacific Solution. Returning to the policies of the Pacific Solution after years of Labor incompetence on this issue is overdue and has taken the former CDF to get the government to act. This is another Coalition policy.

Okay, I've answered you pretty comprehensively. I await your nonsensical, unintelligent and fault-riddled reply.
