Caltex to cut 330 jobs, shut Kurnell refinery

CALTEX has announced it will close its Kurnell refinery in Sydney, which will lead to the loss of 330 jobs.
The company will shut the refinery in the second half of 2014 as part of a supply chain restructure.

More to come...

Sorry, thought you were talking about the desalination plant that was costing us as packet and was not needed. But one can understand Caltex closing their plant over the Greens Carbon tax.

No problem. The workers can always get a job in one of those windmill factories.

The ALP, the progressive party, the party of ideas, the workers' friend, is the only Australian political party to roast four young Australians in roof cavities. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

If i was member of a union at that plant i would be looking at suing the Union. Its like everything a Union touches gets moved off sore. its like Unions strive to push work offshore.

Not in Victoria. The backward liberal state government has all but killed off the industry because the rich libbos were complaining about imaginary noises coming from the turbines. Those rich libbos with shares in the dirty coal industry hate competition Sad

If the Greens' Carbon Levy closed Kurnell, how do you explain the other refineries not also closing.

Because of the Greens' Carbon Levy?

Or maybe get a job in the energy efficiency region of the Green Economy. Am sure shoppers will buy Greener products, so they save money in energy use.

Liberal's corrections :  another skill shortage, selling off our gold, undermining workers, pork barrelling, and wasting the mining boom?
