Hold on here,  Maqqa, progs, cods, etc have been telling us that Global warming is a hoax.

Why would they care about co2 emissions any more than o2 emissions ?

Because that is one of the arguments the loons use for new socialist tax with a lefty solution looking for a problems (co2)

For a start, a "loon" is a denier.  Someone who elevates beliefs over logic.  Lets get the terminology right.

What is very encouraging is that european levels have dropped due to carbon pricing and other determined measures. This gives a lot of hope that we can turn it around, and they have laid the blueprint for others to follow.

Its inherently racist to say that a chinese man cannot polute more than a european or Australian.  The world fully expects China, and India to rise to the levels of western countries as they develop.  Once there, they fall into the same responsibilities for cuts as we have.

What is disgusting, is that an Australian produces more the twice as much co2 polution as a european for a similar quality of life. We should be embarrased that we're at this state, and those advocating for us to keep increasing our co2 output while europe decreses its output, should be doubly embarrased by their greed.

A denier then is a loon

So anyone who denies anything is a loon

It's called rhetorical demonising

If you are so interested in facts then show us how much humans contribute to the overall carbon emissions - in percentage terms

In the subject of climate change, a denier is a loon, because they are advocating a position based on a belief system, rather than logic.   Is is this thought process which defines a "loon" or not.

HE average Chinese person's carbon footprint is now almost on a par with the average European's, new figures show.

China became the largest national emitter of carbon dioxide in 2006, though its emissions per person have always been lower than those in developed countries such as Europe's.

But this week's report by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency and the European Commission's Joint Research Centre show that per capita emissions in China increased by 9 per cent in 2011 to reach 7.2 tonnes per person, only a fraction lower than the EU average of 7.5 tonnes. The figure for the US is much higher - at 17.3 tonnes - though total Chinese carbon emissions are now about 80 per cent higher than those of America.
The widening gap reflects the 9 per cent increase in China's emissions in 2011, driven mainly by coal use, compared with a 2 per cent fall in the US.Advertisement

Total emissions in Europe and Japan also fell last year, by 3 per cent and 2 per cent respectively. But emissions rose across much of the developing world, including India, which saw a 6 per cent increase. As a result, OECD nations now account for only about a third of the global total.

How on earth do some of the idiots advocating a carbon tax on Australia and allowing China's to rise - not see this highlighted area as a problem????

China needs to be held accountable as well and that means they should NOT be allowed to grow their emissions and this destructive rate.

Amazing how those who allegedly care for the world environment have no problem with the world's worst polluter growing at a shocking rate and not even looking like reducing....

80% higher emissions than the next worst polluter.....

Simple answer:
"Its inherently racist to say that a chinese man cannot polute more than a european or Australian"

Hiding behind country boundaries is soft as.

Why percentage terms?
Does that look best?
5 minutes is .34% of a day
How many humans die from being held underwater for 5 minutes - 100%

But whatever.

On another matter, I apologize for my outburst earlier in the week.
It was uncalled for.

Because then we understand how much we  influence climate change

We are being accused of causing climate change

Assuming human carbon emissions and carbon emissions from other sources are the same - then if we only contribute 0.0001% then stop human emissions will make no difference to climate change

On another matter - cheers

ENGARDE!!!

Causing or accelerating?

Does it matter?

If the natural atmosphere has a percentage of say 6% CO2 & then we through our activities increase that to 6.1%,we have caused an imbalance, whether the imbalance is .1% or 10% is of no consequence to the argument.

Been saying it for a while.

The science is in and world wide emissions are going up, up and up.

Dr Doolittle now tells us China and India don’t have to do anything until all their people pollute as much as us. Roll Eyes

And throws in the race card.

Truly pathetic.

What would be an interesting questions is:

What level of co2 per person emissions can the world sustain to stay in some goal (say 2 degrees of warming).  ?

If we can get an answer to that, then all countries can aim for that goal.

This is where carbon trading is very useful, because a large number of people in the world wont be at that number, and higher poluters can trade their emissions to them.

A bit egalitarian, and non-racists, I know, but just putting it out there.   Perhaps a long term goal...

Well, according to this article the sustainable global emissions is 3 tonnes per person per annum.

Ouch!

The stupidity of the co2 emissions by country argument is illustrated by the following...

If we are worried about Australia's standing as a countries total emission, the cheapest course of action is to disolve the commenweath, and elevate the states to country status.

If we are worried about the per-capita emissions in Australia, the cheapest course of action is to invade Indonesia, forming one combined country where our per-capita emissions would drop to china-like levels.

Madness.
