Carbon Tax Increased my emissions of CO2

Yep that's right folks, i now produce more CO2 thanks to the carbon tax. To keep warm this winter I've turned to burning everything and anything to produce heat.

And in this case, terminal.

The big worry is that flatulence problem you both have, posting a similar level to a Brachiosaurus daily.

Those green pine logs at nursery's are cheap as chips and burn great with a nice bluish flame.
Be sure to close all windows and put towels at the base of doors so as to keep as much heat in as possible.

Yeah, and don't worry about Arsine. The science is not settled. There is no proof that it will definitely kill you. It's only 95% certain, so go ahead as smithy recommended.  Grin

The wholesale price of electricity has increased by over 100% because coal fired power stations have cut back generation in favour of gas and tightened supply.  The gas power stations have the ability to ramp up quicker than coal, so overall, it has already decreased carbon emissions.

Wholesale rates jumped from $35 per Megawatt Hr to an average of $85 for the week following the carbon tax. It's now running around $65 in Queensland. The Carbon tax is $23 per MWhr, (which is pretty close to 1 tonne of CO2-e)

In most states in Australia we don't need heating. Yes it gets a bit cool at times, but we can always put on an extra layer of clothing.

Many of us grew up without airconditioning and heaters - yet we've become so reliant on them now - even the children today can't learn unless an a/c is going full blast.

What annoys me about the carbon tax is how much extra it's going to cost for cooking - an essential.

The problem is that we've all got too used to comfort. Think about how your grandparents used to live when only the basics were sufficient and then attempt to live the way they used to. We can adapt if we have to.

Unless what you are burning has been dug up from underground then you aren't actually contributing to the build up of CO2, the carbon from wood etc is already a part of the natural carbon cycle, it's the carbon that was removed from the atmosphere millions of years ago and stored safely underground that is being dug up, burn and reintroduced to system that is causing the problems. Unless otherwise buried then wood will only store carbon for at best a few hundred years. Bury it and let it turn into coal then you can store carbon for billions of years.
