Slow news day eh? I guess you righties can't find another boat that you can clamour to have machine gunned or someone to die on TV to give you a good belly laugh.

Meanwhile, day 4 and we still have power. It's a miracle! Maybe Abbott was praying for me? Tim Tams are completely gone though. May need to venture out to see if I can scavenge some before our energies completely run out.

Damn this python strike!

Or death squeeze.

Or whatever it is.

This isn't about left vs right, or Labor vs Liberal. It's about Thomson (and somehow now Oakeshott) against all other pollies, regardless of persuasion.

No it isn't. It's about having a yet ANOTHER whine about Thomson because you can't think of anything else to whine about.

Of course he does. If you ask me, pollies are well underpayed. They work very long hours, and are payed a pittamce to several other, less gruelling jobs in the country. On the issue of Rob Oakeshott, what a good man. He put the interests. Of the nation above his own personal interests. The people of Lyne have qn obligation to vote him in next election again. I have heard that news is grim for him Windsor, Smith, Swan and Rudd, but these voters all have a duty to reelevt these men.

you are an idiot. although, being a greenie that is noramlly assumed.

obligation... is there anything about democracy that you actually understand?

Why should Ministers like Smith, Emerson, Swan and former PMs like Rudd lose their seats, when they have represented us so well over the last two terms of governments. My ex-wife lives in Griffith, and says she,s longing to vote out Rudd. Disgusting and unappreciative, that's all it is. Oakeshott has represented our nation well, as has Windsor. They put the interests of the country over their own interests. Why should they be punished for that?

how can you respond RATIONALLY to such an IRRATIONAL comment that voters have a 'duty' to re-elect labor. you dont quite see mto get the whole 'choice' aspect of democracy. that explains why you are a green, who are supporters of dictatorship.

It's not about reelecting labr, although that is what I hope, but I know that there's no chance as long as hey keep Julia. It's about keeping those men, in particular, after the great duty they've done for our nation. You sound like my ex wife the nasty piece of work she iw, saying she,s going to call me up and laugh when the Coalition win, and is going to campaign for the LNP, to have Rudd thrown out. Nasty and bitter, that's the conservative way.

so your complaint is about your EX??? why not keep your petty arguments to yourself!

and what you call 'great duty', most people call 'insufferable arrogance and breathtaking incompetence'. rudd and swan are two of the worst performing ministers in our history.

I dont have to like Oakeshott, but I respect the man because he is at least up front and honest, and represents his electorate with distinction and gusto.  Thompson has mere disgraced his own.

Cannot argue with your reasoning there Verge.
However who will you make the judge of who represents & who does not?

Plenty of sleeping goes on , on both sides.

I'd say the electorate is the ultimate judge. If they're not good enough vote em out next time.

Of course it's not about her. I am just using an example to illustrate the point. Rudd and Swan have been great, and they don't deserve to lose their seats. Ministers shouls not be losing their seats. In the state election, the QLD people owed it to andrew Fraser to re-elect him, as he was wantes by the party to become leader, but instead turfed him out.

and with Oakeshotts 35%+ swing against him that is pretty damning evidence that the electorate does NOT consider themselves 'represented'. they wanted Abbott and their supposed rep give them Gillard. The only question that remains is why 14% are still going to vote for him.

I repeat... you really dont get the whole representational democracy thing. Labor might ahve wanted Fraser, but the people didnt and the people get to choose. And they didnt want Labor either.
