Direct action was on the table for the 2010 election the lack of detail and funding you have is all they are going to give you.

well, if its outdated technology, you would hope the carbon tax helped them make up their mind ... they were probably waiting for Abbott to hand over bags of cash so as to update the plant with new technology... after all, why shouldn't our tax's pay for it ... we pay, they profit ....

Fundamentally, price was the reason. Price is the primary motivator to any change.
Their price pressure was coal price, carbon tax, and all sorts of other things (employment costs, etc).

This example shows that price pressure changes behavior, which is the fundamental principle of a carbon price.

Massive tick of effectiveness of the co2 price.

At the two small supermarkets in Homebush, the carbon tax has not changed things much.
This week FoodWorks was actually a bit cheaper. Eggs were more expensive but lower prices on bread and tomatoes more than made up the difference.
Ryan Smith from FoodWorks says he is not surprised.
"Absolutely nothing as yet about anything type of tax price increases on any item," he said.
He also ruled out any increases just because it is the start of a new financial year and shops can adjust for inflation.
Around the corner at the IGA the only difference was cheaper tomatoes.
