I won't be paying for this undemocratic, dictatorial carbon tax, introduced by this pathetic and incomperent shambolic government. I have decided to leave the shore of Darwin, here in my own home land, and go and live in New Zealand for several months. I will come back in time before the next election.

I bet you take the tax breaks etc though.

SOB

The government is doubling the minimum tax threshold to about $18,000 if memory serves. That means anyone earning up to $17,999 pays no tax whatsoever on their earnings. How does the government intend to make up for this shortfall in taxation revenue? Yep, that's right - we'll have to pay for it later through a tax hike or even a new tax!

The carbon tax is replacing the cuts..havent u been reading the news for the last one and a half years?

How stupid. Why not be proud of the fact that our government actually has the courage to stand up to climate change, and implement a great reform to counter it?

He's also going to lose 27c in the dollar..a tad more than the carbon tax   Grin

Oh yeah - their GST is 17% or something isnt it?

SOB

And theres no jobs and its full of huge angry Maoris who would happily tear Matty a new bunghole.
Good luck Matty  Cheesy

Excuse me, don't make fun of Matty's surgery.

Don't listen to a word these leftards say, Matty. These people are vile.

Anyway, I'm going too. Matty and I are quite happy to pay a higher GST, thank you. A GST is a progressive tax,  not a regressive tax on carbon, which is actually good for the environment.

Shane B is an economist in Canberra, so he should be able to tell you why. I agree with Woof Woof. This country is going down the drain.

Still, it will feel a lot better when Mr Abbott gets in and Matty and I can return. If we manage it well, it will be good publicity for the Liberal Party. It will be reminiscent, I think, of Imelda Marcos's much publicised return from exile in Palm Springs.

We might be able to pull in a few swinging voters.

Uncle Meat is denying the properties of CO2.

Yeah but be fair - Uncle Meat is a lawyer who likely gets confused by terms like CO2 or anything that involves test tubes and equations.

Absolutely not.  You aren't reading my posts properly.

Here, I'll give it to you again and maybe this time you'll understand exactly what I'm saying:

In the process of saying climate changes and will continue to change, you are also implying anthropogenic released CO2 has no significant influence on the nature of that change.

Perhaps you could tell us why you think reducing atmospheric CO2 won't result in a cooler outcome than business as usual.

Whether that is true or not is not the point as far as Im concerned. It is prudent to make the changes we need to move away from fossil fuels if not because of CO2 pollution then because we need to sort it out before we begin to run out and then have to make the changes in a panic.
Now is a good time with the rise of China and India, the massive pollution problems they are facing and the increasing costs of fossil fuels.
Disregarding CO2 pollution does not make solving our pollution and rising energy cost problems any less of an issue.
