Clear majority support Abbott's plan to repeal tax
Jun 26th, 2012 at 4:01am

For one thing, the climate change legislation would be scrapped. Two-thirds of Australians say they are against the government's legislation introducing a fixed price on carbon that will then lead to an emissions trading scheme, with nearly half (45 per cent) of us strongly against the policy.

Perhaps most worrying for the Gillard government, a majority (57 per cent) are in favour of a future Coalition government removing the ETS if it wins the next election, with this majority holding across all states, age groups, income levels and both genders. Even 38 per cent of the Australians who say they always or sometimes vote for the Greens are in favour of removing the emissions legislation.

Are you still here? Do something constructive, go out and chop a tree down, or an entire forest.

why don't we poll how many people would like to scrap income tax outright... and then see Abbott commit to that result? ...

And what is its ideology? That's what I want to know. Is it just power at all costs, because so many people that I speak to on a daily basis think that,s all Labor stands for these days.

longmorons comment was that the government should do what the people want ...whilst that's nice in a perfect world, reality doesn't work that way , never has and never will ...... I don't want to pay income tax and neither does anyone I've ever spoken too .... why is that claim less valid than the carbon tax one? if longie stands by his comment, than he should also agree that abbott needs to support it if polls show that it's what people want.

Sure, go push for a poll, come back here with the results and see what happens.

It would have to be a legitimate pollster though if you are going to get the attention of Canberra.

Really the only way is for you to get Gillard to say "there will be no income tax under a government I lead" only for her to break that promise when she would be so obviously elected.

Then come back and you may be surprised.

Run a daily media campaign for 2 years the way we have seen and you would get up a servey saying that 70% of people like to eat rat poison.

That would mean 55% of the community are either ambivalent or support a Carbon Tax.
You do know that democracy works on majority rule don't you?

This is what the carbon tax will cost us all, showing clearly Gillard's lie that only the top 500 polluting businesses will pay it, not the rest of us...
