Given that life on earth has spent the last hundred million years give or take evolving in an atmosphere comprised of approximately 250 ppm or so, I'd say that is the ideal level.

Of course the earth of prehistory has a darn sight more vegetation (carbon sink).

Fossil fuels is that vegetation. When you burn it, you are releasing the sun's energy the vegetation absorbed while it was alive.

Just a left-field question to all the scientists - why IS there fossil fuels? In the great natural scheme that is Gaia - what is the point of fossil fuels (or what we call fossil fuels')? Soil formation supports future vegetation. Vegetation supports life (as food and as generator of oxygen). What's the point of coal and oil and gas?

What is the point of marijuana if you can't smoke it at work in front of your boring bosses face??

GEEZ YOU THINK YOU'RE OVER EVERYONES HEAD DON'T YA BUDDY!??!  Kiss Kiss

Don't sweat it; we can just move if things get too bad.
