Saab have been known to promise much and deliver little. They were going to revolutionize the auto world 12 years ago with their variable compression ratio engine. Like every other manufacturer that had experimented with the technology, nothing came into production.

Saab, a company sold off by GM as a lost cause, isn't going to change the auto world because they have been bought by an electrical group. This will result in nothing but pr spin until they a resold in a few years time.

Bloomberg News reported today a consortium named National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB, which is led by Japanese investment firm Sun Investment and Hong Kong-based renewable-energy power-plant builder National Modern Energy Holdings Ltd., has agreed to buy Saab and turn the company into an electric carmaker.

The National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB consortium was recently formed with the sole purpose of acquiring Saab.

Don't expect to see any Saab badged electric cars anytime soon. This is a cheap asset purchase made by cashed up investers. These type of purchases rarely
achieve the levels generated by the hype.

Prediction, factories are sold off very quickly.

Why would you expect SAAB - a failed manufacturer - to come up with viable EVs when everyone else has failed miserably?

EVs are inevitable. The Volt is not far off being economically viable, SAAB will be followed by many. Watch the technology explode.

I agree: tesla is releasing cheaper and cheaper models with a strategic aim of getting a name for quality!!

The technology is basically in the bag given the umbilical chord of supply concerns that accompany the fossil fuels powered modes of transport.

THE WORLD IS CHANGING: CONSOLIDATION HAPPENS AND THEN BANG YOU HAVE A NEW PARADIGM.

BYE BYE GAS GUZZLERS: GREED IS UNSUSTAINABLE!!
